I used to visit this place when it was under a different name and management. I decided to stop and try the new menu.

Despite my reservation about 2 items, I still rate them as 5 star.

1- The coffee is not hot enough. The kind waitress I had, have heated my coffee once, them refilled it and heated it up for me. I love my coffee very hot. I believe they could use a few degrees up in their coffee.

I ordered the 3 omelette of the day, which was mexican. The portions were adequate, and was served with homefries and two slices of melons.

That brings us to my reservation no 2. The fries were topped with awfully thin onions, and 70% of them were literally black in color. I did not taste onions not even in 1 bite. I suggest you cut the onions bigger and do not make them turn black not even red. Breakfast onions need to look and taste like onions (I am into restaurant industry and my comments are made based on experience with client satisfaction)

The second sub-thing is the fries themselves. They were made in the fryer, then into my plate and topped with burned onions. The potatoes had absolutely no taste. If I knew that the homefries were made in the fryer I would not bother visiting. I strongly advise you two things to make your clients happier and make them come back for more. Pre-cook the fries, then finish cooking on the GRILL, and use some good seasoning. There are different options available for very affordable price and it makes the homefries taste like home.

I know your restaurant might have their own way, but my review is honest. I am saying it as it is, so you can avoid losing clients. Clients that see the homefries made in fryer may not return, and you won't know about them.

The staff are very nice and the menu is very inclusive with a large variety of items to choose from. Beautiful atmosphere and large tv screens are in various area of the restaurant.

Prices are very reasonable. 3 eggs omelette with cheese is $13 . That is a great deal. Most items are very reasonably priced.

I would strongly recommend adding an extra $2-3 to prices of breakfast meals for unlimited coffee. That is what 90% of breakfast places do. I was surprised I was charged extra for coffee.

In general I would say the place is worth visiting. I will be visiting to try the fish & chips. Maybe I will visit again for breakfast if they improve...

So let me start by saying that I’ve been to Bad Alibi a few times for lunch and and I do like their food a lot! I thought I’d try their breakfast cause I’ve heard good things about it and it’s also one of the few places that serve pan-fried home fries in Orleans! Well let me tell you this - I was not aware that they didn’t serve breakfast and lunch given that breakfast is served till 1 on Sundays and my friend wanted lunch but I wanted breakfast. Out waiter (Theo) suggested we hang around long enough for him to order lunch as we got there around 11:20 but friend decided to order breakfast rather than wait. So I ordered the savoury crepe with pan-fried potatoes and a side order of sausages and my friend ordered the eggs with deep-fried. Easy peasy you say..I thought so too! Waiter comes back to tell my friend there are no more plain potatoes to put in fryer but all good for my order…but you sir can order fries instead to go with your breakfast eggs…but I don’t want fries I’ll just have the panfried potatoes she’s having. We don’t have enough so your option is fries. Nope I’ll just wait till 1pm I guess and have lunch. Ok I’ll cancel your order for breakfast. But yours miss is being prepared so no problem with yours. That’s great thanks. Few mins later…Theo “you’re gonna kill me lady but looks like there’s a misunderstanding and they cancelled both orders but you can still have your breakfast, however, you can’t have the pan-fried potatoes anymore cause there aren’t any left! Now MY option has become fries as well…nope can you offer me another option - maybe a salad…ok sure! By this time it’s just before 1pm when we get our food…after a few bites I call the waiter to remind him that I still haven’t gotten my sausages…he says oh ya you ordered a side of sausage, sorry that’s my fault! Few mines later comes back to say sorry we have no more. I’m happy with my crepe but nonetheless, this was a disaster! Theo was still a nice waiter but the whole experience was very...

The food here is very good, but I would recommend avoiding going during the time they transition from breakfast to lunch. We originally arrived at 12:55pm hoping for brunch (having not noticed the breakfast ended at 1pm on the website), as it was a stat holiday. We were told they were no longer serving brunch, which we were fine with. The server took about 15 minutes to make initial contact with us and take our drink order, and informed us that there would be about a ten minute delay until we could place our lunch orders as they were switching the kitchen over. After ordering, we waited another 30 minutes to receive our nachos appetizer, bringing the time since being seated to just over an hour. We asked for an extra sour cream with our nachos which we never received. We received our mains around 2:15pm, an hour and twenty-five minutes after first arriving. We left at 2:50, almost two hours after first arriving.

I can appreciate there is a transition period between breakfast and lunch, but had we been told how long of a wait this would engender, we would have gone elsewhere, rather than being told simply we would have to wait ten minutes to order. We did not receive a much communication from the server regarding the status of our food etc. To be transparent, we chose not to leave a tip, I understand the server was busy, but we did not receive very good or clear communication, the wait time was exceptionally long, and we didn’t receive something we asked for (which was not acknowledged). Other small details in the service we also felt could be improved such as the plate I received my food on was still a bit dirty, our dirty side plates were left right up until the time our mains arrived, despite them having cleared the nacho plate etc.

The hostess wished us a good day, which my girlfriend heard our server audibly scoff at as he was walking back into the restaurant, which was not a nice end to...

Wow. I absolutely LOVE this place. Great atmosphere, beautiful patio, amazing service, terrific food. You know how I know somewhere is gonna be great? When they have a tailored menu that is one page, items change frequently & they don’t try to do a million items. Even with this last short menu I still had a hard time deciding, because EVERYTHING sounded amazing. We were greeted kindly by the owner upon arrival. We asked to sit at the bar instead of a table which was no problem. Backless barstools at the bar and couple of 4 seat high tops in the bar area. I would have loved a hook to hang my purse or sweater under the bar, luckily no one was beside me so I used the empty stool instead. They have a small but delicious cocktail menu. They have CORONA beer on tap! It was my husband’s first time seeing that so he had to have one, and it was so cold - perfect for a hot & muggy day! We also tried a bourbon sour & a melon ball which were both delicious (I even had a second bourbon sour!) Ordered their famous Fish & Chips as well as a Nashville Chicken Sandwich with soup. The fries here are so so good, like chip truck level good. Actually some chip trucks could learn a thing or two about how to make perfect fries from Bad Alibi. Everything was perfectly cooked, delicious and insta-worthy. We cannot wait to come back here and try anything and everything they have to offer. It is officially my new favourite place in Orleans. Plus the owner was so chill & easy to talk to (he was also bartending/serving!) - as my husband and I are both ex-restaurant industry - we know a good one when we see one ;) Owner told us everything was made from scratch and they now have breakfast as well. I can’t wait to try it. Way to go for opening up such an amazing spot. I’d love to see live music here in the future!

Well, this is a bit of a redemption for The Bad Alibi. A couple of years back, we had a terrible experience. I will focus on the fish and chips for this review, but keys start with the basics, The service - Fast, friendly, and efficient. Zero complaints! The atmosphere - well, nothing special, just a drab standard pub. A few televisions and a bar. She's nothing fancy... The food. The last time I ordered fish and chips, it was probably the worst fish and chips on Ottawa bar none. However, that was 2 years ago. At a regular price of $23, this 2 piece would be overpriced. At Friday's $19 special, they got it right. The one piece is $12. Portion size - The fish in the photo is half the order. That second slab behind it is just as big or bigger! This was a huge order. Too big for me, but I stuffed my face till it was gone. The batter - one was typical beer batter, the other was a dill pickle batter. The pickle batter was not impressive. Sure, there was a hint of dill pickle, but not enough to wake up the taste buds. A bit of tarter sauce or ketchup drowned it out. The beer batter was light, crispy, and lacking flavor as well. The fish - The beer batter may have been fine, but with my first bite, it was evident to me that they did not season the fish. Salt and pepper enhance not only the fish but the batter as well. You can not use batter to compensate for not seasoning the fish. The fries were good. Seasoned well, and they appeared to be home cut. Overall, not bad. If you like huge portions over top notch flavour then you will love this place. I will go back but when I do I will get the one piece order. That is big enough. My opinion is the 2 piece should have been $17. I would not pay full price for either. Cheers, have a great meal!

Food was not great and the experience was not pleasant. Service is not professional. The one star is for the good portion. I went on a weekday around 2pm so it wasn’t busy. Only a couple other tables. The server introduced himself to the customers at the next table and mentioned the specials but not to me somehow. I already ordered and then overheard the specials and asked about it. No explanation or apologies about not mentioning the specials when asked. Ordered the curry cauliflower soup and it was bitter. Sent it back with no issue. Fish and chips was ok at first bite as the dill pickle dredge was crispy. However, neither the fish nor the batter was seasoned sufficiently and so it was tasteless and boring after a few bites. Even the tartar sauce was not seasoned. The server’s response was that some people don’t like it “too seasoned”. The coleslaw that came with the dish also barely had any salt in it. Any chef should season the food before serving, not to have customers dip their food in table salt. When I asked for more tartar sauce to eat more of the fish since it wasn’t seasoned, I was told they had to charge me for the sauce. There was no point to season the fish on the surface at that point since the salt won’t be integrated. The fish should have been seasoned before it was fried. The server was defensive and unhelpful. Not sure who likes tasteless food but if you do you should definitely check this place out!
