Tyros Shawarma & Donair — Restaurant in Ottawa

Went around 8 pm, I should have walked out. I ordered a shawarma platter. Typically this comes with salad, potatoes and rice. The chicken heater was off and relit once I ordered which was a bit concerning. No potatoes were offered, and they went in the back to microwave rice I believe in a big plastic container. (If you’ve gotta do this, at least use a glass bowl)

Although they offered me bean salad, which I declined, the salad was just the normal toppings (iceberg, pickles, tomato which are usually in addition to a nice tossed salad.

One pita bread was given, which was very stale.

They seemed rather nice, however, I would have preferred an upfront response of we’re winding down, out of menu items, still interested? Rather than just starting the order and not being satisfied with the outcome.

Garlic sauce was more like lemony mayonnaise with a hint of garlic.

Overall wasn’t impressed, although, again, they seemed like kind staff. Just not...

Update 2023 best ever chicken shawarma!! May2022: still the best around, fattoush salad is incredibly fresh. Lots of yummy sumac. This place is unbelievable 😍, fantastic fatoush or beet salad, best in Ottawa. My Mom and family really loves it.

I truly love their sandwiches and also platters. You can’t go wrong with any choice you make.

On the keto diet I get the large mix fattoush salad with hot peppers, garlic and hot sauce.

Average at best. If you need something to eat then come here but there are much better shawarma spots available. Not to mention the chicken is relatively dry, and they microwave the rice - white rice can be ready in 20 mins, there is no need to microwave old rice. For a spot that seems busy during lunch, you would figure they would have better fresh ingredients.

A side note: I couldn’t tell if the restaurant is a take out spot, a food market or a hookah accessory store - this is not a hole in the wall place that is absolutely amazing for their food, it’s simply a hole in the wall with food as a secondary...
