As an established Chef in the restaurant industry, I don't typically eat at chain box stores. Yes, that makes me sound pretentious as all hell but I simply prefer supporting local businesses.
A few friends dropped in for the evening and they were excited to get some Wild Wings so we picked some up on the way home.
Disgusting. That's all I can say.
Clearly, the fryer oil hadn't been changed in days (dare I say, even weeks) and THIS is why I prefaced this review by stating my experience in the industry.
First, we arrived at 11:30. The time displayed online and on their front door. No one was there.
The front was packed with older folks, confused. This should have been our first warning.
When we returned in the evening it was nearly empty. Clearly, the cook was out at the bar chatting with the front-of-house person. It took him nearly 5 minutes to return to the back to cook our food.
At this point I decided to opt out because these are all bad signs but my friends still ordered some wings. Filthy, oil drenched, over-cooked and dangerously so...
It doesn't take a genius to drop frozen wings into a deep fryer, yet these were easily overdone by at least 7 minutes. Not only that, they were filled with grease, meaning the oil was being used FAR past it's safety date. When we returned to send them back, the gate in the rear smelled of discarded, overused oil from the sidewalk so we decided to bin the remnants and go elsewhere.
These people clearly don't care. It's another situation where the inmates are running the asylum. The awful reviews are real! We didn't even bother attempting to get our money back because, I mean...we had already had a few beers and it probably would have resulted in an altercation.
Stay away from this location! Fast food in Orleans is very bad in general but this almost takes the cake for the absolute worst when it comes to food quality.
As someone who takes food quality pretty seriously, I and a few of our associates have requested an investigation of this establishment with the health board. Thankfully, they are quite prompt with their response times. Unlike this joke of a "restaurant".
Do not eat here. Simply walk out to the patio or sidewalk and take in the smells yourself. Yes, that's filthy fryer oil. Everything is made in those...
Read moreThis was probably the WORST experience I have ever had, anywhere. If I could give 0 stars that would be way more accurate. We went to the Innes location, arriving at 5:45pm. Had to wait a little bit for the table, understandable. Within a few minutes of sitting down, placed our order, cheese bread and wings. It took over an hour to get 1 plate of wings and once they arrived we asked where our appetizer was, the response we got was "I forgot" even after I saw the waitress write down our order on the notepad. 30 minutes after we finally got our food, they got our sauces wrong on the wings and the couple next to us who arrived 30 minutes after we sat down, got their food at the same time we did and they ordered only 1 plate of wings also. This was by far the WORST service I have ever received. Upon telling the server how our wings were after the fact because I wasn't waiting another hour for them to change the sauce, I told her it was wrong and she said "oh, I will have to check that". This was after we had paid, why bother checking now? On top of that the food we got made me sick to my stomach. Not once did they apologize for how horrendous this service was, or the fact that half our order didn't come and when it came it was incorrect. We should have walked out the few times we discussed it. We asked for cutlery and only got a fork to eat our boneless wings with... Do not go to this location. The Kanata location is by far 100% better and I will be driving the 30 minutes if I ever decide to go to Wild...
Read moreI ordered 5 varieties of wings, 5x1 lbs, for takeout to feed our family of five. When I arrived home, man did those individual boxes ever feel light!! Super light, except 2 boxes that seemed reasonable. I pulled out the scale, and here are the results: 9 oz, 7 3/8 oz, 9 5/8 oz, 15 5/8 oz, and the extra saucy box coming in at 1lb, 2 5/8 oz. I was appalled that one order had less than half a pound of wings, and 2 others only 9 ounces. So much so that I called the establishment before writing this. The woman I spoke to agreed that it was outrageous, and spoke to a superior, only to come back and offer the explanation that the wings aren't actually 1 lb per order, but 9 wings for classic and 8 wings for breaded.... Two of my orders were traditional breaded, 3 were classic non-breaded. Beyond sounding apologetic, they did not offer me any other remedy. I paid cash and left a tip when I picked up the order (who knows what tip etiquette is these days anyway with takeout orders...). I'd supported this local Wild Wings by going in person several times a year. But wow, what a let down this evening. And what poor customer service! They seem to attribute far too little importance on customer satisfaction and retention, not to mention honest advertizing. This is blatant false advertising. In reality, my experience was ordering 5 lbs of wings for $100 and only receiving 3 lbs 12 oz of...
