Five stars for Five Guys burger and fries.
I went to this Five Guys location on a Saturday night in November and really appreciated the food as well as the service. I ordered a cheeseburger while my family ordered little cheeseburgers, and we shared a large fry.
When you order a burger, the cashier yells out to the kitchen "one patty!" or "two patties!" depending on the type of burger you order, which I thought was cool and different from the other fast-food burger places I've been to.
I ordered my cheeseburger with mayonnaise; ketchup; lettuce; tomato; grilled onions, and grilled mushrooms. Despite all the toppings, the two beef patties were prominent (the burgers with just one patty are called little, i.e. Little Cheeseburger). The proportion of bun to cheese to patty to topping on my two-patty cheeseburger was really well done and the ingredients seemed fresh. While eating the cheeseburger I thought that this is exactly what a burger should taste like, whether by way of fast-food or dine-in restaurant.
When you order a large fry, Five Guys fills the bag. As a result the burger wrappers were greasy, however manageable. The fries were cooked in peanut oil and delicious, although I'd be cautious about eating at Five Guys if you have a peanut allergy.
Fountain drinks were available in the foyer area to be filled and refilled by customers, however we did not get any drinks.
Our three cheeseburgers and fries were served within a few minutes of ordering. There were three groups ahead of us already waiting for their food.
I wish I'd ordered a milkshake to get the full experience.
If you like burgers and fries, this Five Guys is a great place to eat at and is so far my favourite fast-food chain...
Read moreUpdated (dropped from 4 to 2 stars): every time I have went to this particular location the burgers are always wrong. Even our two “plain” bacon-cheeseburgers. I literally watched an employee today obviously take ingredients off one burger after mistakenly putting them on, wrap them up and put them in a bag. *this is terrible for people who order burgers a certain way because of intolerances or allergies. If you add onions, pickles and sauces on a burger that CLEARLY requested PLAIN - do not just remove them. Start a new burger. The flavours and sometimes remains are still there, and we once had to throw a burger out when we got home because of this.
Old review:
Good: this location actually has Milkshakes unlike Trainyards (including Malted milk - add chocolate for that old school chocolate Malt taste!) so many delicious fries: hot, crispy, salted lots of parking
Bad: online ordering doesn’t have “side of gravy” so I always have to go in to order my burger was missing the bacon and I paid for it bathroom could be cleaner I find the burgers hit or miss one whether they are dried out or...
Read moreI wanted to like this restaurant, I really did. On my first time trying it out last summer, I paid for cheese and bacon only to get home and discover both were missing from the burger. Not only that, but in the 5-6 minutes it took to drive it from the restaurant to my house, the burger had already turned into a soggy mess. I could barely hold it in one piece without topping gooping out from all sides.
Today I was really hungry and was close by so I decided to give them another chance. Again, a 5 minute trip to my house and the burger had already become a soggy monstrosity. I almost wanted to take a picture of it with the caption "This is what a $9 burger looks like?". I at least got the cheese I paid for this time. Have you ever been angry at the thing your eating?
For $9, a drink and fries combo would've maybe redeemed this sorry excuse for a burger, but sadly not even that is offered. The only reason I didn't give this place one star is because all things aside, it was a delicious burger, at least whatever parts of it I was able to...
