Shorty's Grill With Friends — Restaurant in Owen Sound

This review is for the new renovated restaurant called "Shorty's Bar & Grill with Friends" In Owen Sound Ontario. First of all this is definitely a new place inside. The freshly done new carpet and paint looks Fabulous. The owners Anne & Steve are totally amazing after meeting them. The fantastic waitress's here are right at your table smiling. If you need anything they are there quickly. All of them are so friendly with a big smile. Which to me makes this place top notch with a lovely atmosphere. In other words so far my review about the restaurant & service here is 100% top notch. Last review the food. I had to try The John Wayne 12oz tenderloin even though it was the most expensive on the menu and I had it done medium rare. There where so many good options on the menu it was so hard to pick something, it all looks good lol. But OMG! the steak was Soooooo perfect with the baked potato & veggies to go with it mmmm so good. Also I had some breaded shrimp extra because I love food lol. Dam it was so good. Lastly even though stuffed with a full belly, I just had to try one of their hear say famous deserts. Oh Yum, yum yummy yum. Holy crap I am in love with this place now!!!! Totally recommend anyone wanting some fantastic food, drink, service and you can not forget the deserts! Seriously you have to try the new Shorty's Bar & Grill with Friends, you will not be disappointed. I will be back 100% soon with my FRIENDS lol. Advertises at the Bayshore as "Come before or after the game". Should read "Come before the game, get your food sometime after."

Couldn't say how the food was as it never made it out before we had to go. The waitress did warn us after we had been there for some time that the kitchen was backed up but then avoided us (not even a drink refill) until we flagged down what turned out to be the new owner and asked to pay for our drinks and go. We watched the owner say a few words to a waitress (not ours) and then sit down with another table at the back.

After another extended wait I sent the rest of the party to get the vehicle and went to find the flustered waitress at the bar, seemingly unsure how to handle the situation, telling us it was her first day there and would need to get the owner. Our waitress did finally swoop in then to tell us we wouldn't need to pay for our drinks (three pops) and apologized for the wait.

Overall a very disappointing experience. If you can't get the pre-game clientele out the door in time then maybe rethink advertising at the game. And if you are looking to attract a different kind of customer, perhaps you should actually come up with a new name rather than keep all the...

Ok. This is no ordinary restaurant. I got a burger, the California, it came with fries and coleslaw... I took a bite of the burger... I stopped and stared at it, chewing and then raved about it to my wife. She took a bite of her chicken and followed suit with a similar ritual. After listening to her rave about her chicken, I took a bite of the fries and burst into another episode of raving to her and she consequently reached over and tried the same fries, my fries, the ones I raved about already, then raved about my fries back to me. We followed all this by tasting everything else and raving about everything else in its turn. Everything was good. Everything. We're going back as often as we're make a trip up to Bruce Peninsula. Go. Just do it. It's good. It's real food. Not junk. It's really good. I know, I know, I'm raving. But it's really good. Go try it, and see if you don't rave. You don't want pho, you don't...
