My boyfriend and I were in Parksville to do some shopping and were looking for a place to eat. Papa’s Burgers came up on google and the pictures of the food reeled us in. The first day we each got the Royale burger, small poutines, strawberry shake, and the sea salt caramel shake. First bite into that burger was AMAZING!! You could taste the well seasoned fresh burger patty, the island sauce, and you get the crunch from the pickles and lettuce. The poutine was smothered in gravy and cheese curds. Some of the smaller fries had this delicious salty crunch. Then we tried the shakes. The strawberry shake had fresh strawberries and the sea salt shake had caramel drizzled on top. We were stuffed and decided we had to visit one more time before we left the island to head back home to Washington state. The next day we got the Royale burgers again, the Papa’s Poutine (recommended by Kathy), the blackberry shake, and a cookie dough shake. I highly recommend the Papa’s poutine. We were fighting over the last bites of poutine! We even got burgers and shakes to put in our cooler to have for dinner. The best part of this place is the staff! They are amazing and so helpful with any questions you have. Kathy is so sweet and we had a nice chat (even tried to convince us to move there which we would love to)! She is amazing and I can’t wait to see her next year when we come back to the island! Sorry this review was so long but I could just go on and on about the food and staff. You won’t regret trying this place out! The one regret we have is not going here sooner so we could have tried more of the food while we were there. Thank you so much for all your kindness Kathy! See you next year!!...
Read moreI have been a dedicated customer of Papa's for quite some time, and my overall food experience has been consistently excellent. However, I believe a true testament to a restaurant's quality lies not only in its outstanding dishes but also in how they handle the rare occasions when things don't go as planned.
On one particular visit, I encountered a hiccup in my experience. Rather than venting my frustration on Google reviews, I chose to reach out to the owners directly. To my pleasant surprise, they were incredibly receptive to my concerns. What impressed me even more was the genuine ownership the staff took in addressing the issue, displaying a level of professionalism that is truly commendable.
The next time I visited Papa's, it was clear that the food was prepared with an extra touch of love and attention. It reaffirmed my confidence in their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. I'm not only a dedicated customer because of the exceptional food, but also because of the way they run their business.
One of the standout qualities of Papa's is their approachability. When I contacted them about my experience, I did so with a gracious attitude, and the owners and staff reciprocated in kind. They went above and beyond to accommodate my concerns, turning a potentially negative experience into a positive one.
In summary, Papa's not only serves exceptional food but also excels in customer service and responsiveness. Their dedication to ensuring a positive dining experience has earned them a loyal customer in me. I highly recommend Papa's to anyone seeking not just delicious dishes, but also a restaurant that truly cares about...
Read moreThe food here is ok, but is unjustifiably expensive for what they provide. It has a cool, small town burger joint vibe, with L.A. prices and misses the mark on flavor town. The burger meat was a bit dry, but still managed to be damn good burger. The halibut it's self was perfect and flakey, but the batter was dark and heavily seasoned. It takes away from subtle perfection of the fish. You have a great piece of fish there and it should be done in a light golden flakey batter, not encased in a salty tomb. The onion rigs are in the same batter as the fish from what it looks like and are not good. The fries are not great.. They are a bit sad, wilted and brown, and most likely cooked in older oil. The fact you have to order fries on top of your burger is fine, but they should be show stoppers. You should have a "meal" sized fries, a medium for two to share and a large, which is so big the girls at the front need to warn you about them 🙂. They should be super crispy, light colored and seasoned with a nice ammount of flakey sea salt. (Your right by the ocean) The kids meals are overpriced and shouldn't be over 9 bux. Your competing In town where parents can drive another couple minutes down the same road to the Golden arches, and though disgusting, buy their kids a 6 dollar happy meal that they've been begging for and comes with some stupid little toy. The kitchen looked clean and organized. Well done on the staff, they are awesome and seem very happy, that usually trickles down from the top. This level of critiquing stems from...
