Thai Orchid Restaurant — Restaurant in Pickering

It seems to be the general consensus that the food is ok but the attitude of the ladies at the front is terrible. First time we ate there we dined in, and the attitude of the lady was midioker. She was a bit snappy like she didn't want us there as we were the only ones and they were having their mid afternoon lunch! Then we tried to order delivery - a horrible experience. We are literally 2 min drive but we were sick and could not drive there First they said they don't offer delivery while advertising they do. Then she said they would deliver as long as we ordered $40 or more. Then when we were asking about one of the dishes she got snappy and rude again (like she was entitled to have me order without any questions). So we just said forget it. Then, I was talked into going another day to take take out - one Pad Thai because we couldn't cook that night. Again, rude, snappy was another hostess. Threw the reciept at me and was not answering any questions like how long it would take etc. By that time I had already paid. She ended up saying it would take 15-20 min and it's been more and I'm here waiting. Three strikes and your out Thai Orchid!!! You are NOT entitled to my business or respect. You have to earn it no matter your culture or origin, this society here in Canada demands earning respect, not entitled to...

My husband and i wanted to try this restaurant as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. What a huge disappointment. Extremely poor customer service. The lady behind the counter never once smiled at us. When we walked up to her, she was busy so she pointed at a table and waved her arm to go sit. She then came over to the table and quickly scattered our napkins, forks and threw down our menus before running off. Again NO smile or greeting. Has she never been trained on how to treat patrons ???? The water she served us wasn't even chilled, just lukewarm. If you ever get a glimpse at the bottom of the water pitcher that she was carrying, you would be totally disgusted. It was flithy and black with grim and germs. We ordered an appetizer, 2 entrees and rice. The food was mediocre. At the end, when we paid our bill at the counter she never looked up at us again and just tossed our receipt to us. No " thank you" , no smile, no eye contact !!! Sorry to have been a disturbance to your day. You certainly have no idea how to make customers feel appreciated and should change jobs. If you are comtemplating this restaurant, please do yourself a favour and don't go !!! You will leave regretting ever stepping foot in that...

Ordered two basic dishes, the Thai chicken fried rice and the crispy beef. The order took at least 20 mins to make which is ok. When the waitress brought out the beef, all I could see in the plate were green peppers and a few pieces of beef! The presentation was awful. The dish actually had a lot more peppers than beef. Moreover, the beef was not cooked properly and was extremely rubbery and chewy, NOT crispy at all! The fried rice was ok, better than the beef but definitely not the kind of quality you would expect at a restaurant. It had huge chunks of nearly raw onion pieces which just spoiled the whole thing. I spoke to the waitress and explained the problem with the beef who was sweet enough to tell us we could return it and order something else. When she went back to talk to the chef/owner of the place, he berated her so badly and loudly that she started crying. After this I didn't want to order anything else there.
