Honestly, one of the most disappointing birthdays I have ever had.
Though the decor was lovely, and the tea was lovely, that is where the pleasantries end.
Though adorable, the choice of accent chairs were non functional, and not appropriate for high tea. They felt out of place, and provided no support.
When taking the reservation, our allergies were clearly stated, as some in our group were life threatening. One of our group's allergies was not properly acknowledged, and had been placed on the tray regardless, leading one member of our group to not eat for fear of cross contamination. When we addressed this to the woman taking care of us, she did not offer to remake the tray, and basically told us "too bad".
For those of us who did get to eat, unfortunately, average seems to be the most of a compliment we could give. Though the cucumber sandwich was lovely, the crotini appeared to be nothing but dry, unseasoned rotisserie chicken on a stale piece of white bread. Also, we found it quite strange that they substituded one of our allergies with an option from the children's menu, which ended up being a peanut butter and honey sandwich. Isn't peanut butter a very common allergen in children?
We were told we would leave full and no need to order extra. We all left unsatisfied and in search of somewhere with more sustenance.
When pricing was quoted over the phone, no mention of alcohol not being included was brought up, and when we ordered, we were not told that it would come at an additional price.
When we inquired about options for non dairy milk, they told us they did not have, which is quite strange for 2022. Additionally, they did not bring any option for milk or cream for our tea.
No tea menu was provided to us, yet we were expected to know which tea we wanted. The waitress treated every inquiry for what was offered as a chore. We ended up settling, as we felt lost and as if we were disturbing her day, even though there was only one other...
Read moreMy recent visit to Rosie-Lanoi was a disaster from start to finish. Even prior to my visit, I experienced unpleasantness while trying to make a reservation. Despite calling during their limited "open" hours, they NEVER answered the phone. After several failed attempts, we had to resort to messaging them on INSTAGRAM to secure a reservation. This is a serious lack of professionalism.
When we arrived, we were immediately disappointed with the rushed and impersonal service. We were made to feel like we were a burden to the staff, and they didn't seem interested in making our experience enjoyable. Such a ridiculous rushed service limitation needs to be mentioned BEFORE. The waitress assigned to our table didn't come by ONCE to ask if everything was okay, for 30$ I expect at least a refill for the tea?
To make matters worse, when one of our friends couldn't make it to the reservation, we were forced to pay for “the extra AT MOST 3 pastries” FULL PRICE without any heads up or explanation. Where was the extra tea for the person who couldn't make it then? This is a serious lack of professionalism and again needs to be mentioned BEFORE.
After coming here, and seeing the way the owners have replied to the bad reviews, makes me wish we had seen them before visiting the place. Clearly there is no professionalism and no decency to address such issues mentioned by several customers, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH NICER AND MORE HELPFUL if they'd just try to improve themselves instead of trying to justify these issues with mediocrity.
Overall, I would not recommend Rosie-Lanoi to anyone. The unpleasant experience started with the difficulty of being able to make a reservation and continued with rushed service, lack of customer service, and unreasonable policies. Save yourself the hassle and look for a better dining experience elsewhere. For 15$ more, Ritz-Carlton offers an...
Read moreWe have been a few times and always enjoyed the food albeit each time felt that the owner was stringent with rules like charging for one missing person out of a party of 6 for example but today was beyond unpleasant and although I never write reviews I felt today’s experience warranted one. Our initial reservation was confirmed for 1:30. We were recontacted quite a while later and asked to move our time to 11am. We accommodated the change. Upon arrival about 7 minutes to the hour , door was locked and we waited outside along with other patrons, in below zero weather, until a few minutes after 11 when finally someone opened up. Service was slow and we were finally served at 12:30. At 12:55 (not yet finished eating) we were asked if we could klndly clear our table in 5 minutes to make room for the 1:30 seating. We were asked twice to ensure we’d leave promptly. We rushed through the last few bites and closed our bill in the next few minutes. While I fully appreciate the challenges around staffing and sympathise fully with small business owners working hard and trying to keep their necks afloat all while striking a balance and upholding quality of product and service ; the wait here was not the issue, understanding there was another scheduled seating was not the issue….The kicker for me was the lack of sincerity in her “ unapologetic sounding “apology when asking us to leave . It was clear and apparent that she had very little concern for our overall experience and satisfaction and was more concerned with her own agenda and timeline. The food is good but service is cold and robotic .. plain and simple. The proximity to home was always a plus but todays visit was surely our last and for our next high tea experience we will opt to displace ourselves, still for good food but for better service and moreover for a pleasant...
