Domino's Pizza — Restaurant in Port Coquitlam

Honestly a bit of an odd situation.

I ordered pizza for delivery, specifying in the app that I’d be paying cash.

The total came out to $31. So I got a $50 bill and was ready to ask for my full change, as I had the tip in a different baggie to give the driver.

I gave $51 and asked for $20 back. The driver stared blankly at me for a long moment and then said “I need to go back to the store.”

I was confused and asked why. He said he didn’t have any change or any cash on him. He checked in the car and then said that he only had 2 $50 bills.

He took my full $50 and drove off, indicating that he’d return in 10-20 minutes with my $20 change.

He did, and I came back down to get it and give him his tip.

First off, why on earth would a driver not have any change or any cash on him if it was a cash delivery? Did he expect me to pay the full $50 for my $30 order and write the $20 extra off as his tip? Did he expect an almost 50% tip?

I’ve worked with service industry workers and one sketchy tip I’ve heard is to fumble with the customer’s change, in the hopes that they’ll get annoyed and say “I don’t need the change, actually” and you can take it a tip.

Why would a driver take my money and return later (which is so sketchy) to return my change?

And, again, why would a delivery driver not have any cash/change on him when he KNEW he was delivering to someone paying in cash?

Very weird.

I tipped the driver 15%-ish still, of course, though I definitely changed it (while the driver had disappeared to the store for my change) to be way lower than the initial tip I had planned to give.

Very weird. A bit creepy. Sketchy.

The driver apologized at the very end, but still, common sense would have kept this from happening in the...

Careful to not make an error on your pizza/order or you may anger one of the workers, and always inspect the pizza before eating!! So I used the app to order and my profile has my address as the primary address, which is what I saw, but when placing the order it switched to another address I had made my last order at (I didn't notice this at the time). This is probably a system/app error, long story short the driver was very angrily calling because I never showed up... I later gave him my correct address which is only 5 minutes away from the other location... when he arrived he knocked aggressively on the door and even put the pizza on the wet ground outside before handing it to me... I understood he must've been upset for the mix-up. But I still felt it wasn't right that he was treating me that way... I gave him a 50% tip in cash too... however upon looking at the pizza I realized the "Tamper Seal Proof Sticker" was tampered with... infact it was wet/soggy and cut... part of the pizza box was wet too and I've ordered from dominos many times, this was the first time the box felt it was previously opened... in the end, the manager couldn't refund me my money but did offer an in-store credit that could be used only at their location. I will advise people to avoid using their delivery service and picking up the pizza instead. Especially with covid, there is no reason for it to pass on to any...

I want to love this place super convenient and super quick but that is where it ends... Echoed by others the location frequently forgets add-ons in the last 5 orders I have been shorted the dipping sauce and pops on 4 of these orders the only order that wasn't wrong was when I did not order anything besides pizza and garlic cheese sticks but on that order the cheese seemingly had exploded off the middle of the sticks.... No idea how that even happened or why it was allowed to be given out to me like that with basically a 4 inch ring of cheese with only garlic paste in the middle really bizarre... Outside of all the problems the pizza is actually really good and you can crazy custom any order and I have never had a mistake to date. If I could I would give 2.5 stars but I am not satisfied enough to give 3... So the lessons are never order sides that don`t come out of the oven you will likely not receive them and always open the box and check your order before...
