This certainly didn't fulfill my expectations of a restaurant that scores 4.9 on Google Reviews.

My wife and I were at the restaurant on a summer evening in mid-August. We ordered starters, a main meal (I had the Wagyu Flank Steak, my wife the Grilled Scallops), and each had a glass of wine.

First the good - The quality of the Wagyu Flank steak was excellent, and one of the best steaks I've had this year.

Unfortunately the steak was ruined by the rest of the experience. My wife's Grilled Scallops and past were average and only came with 2 scallops despite the promise of at least 3. I'd like to comment on the quality of the starters that we ordered, but they never came. The entrees were served and when we enquired about the starters we had ordered they offered to keep the entrees "warm" whilst they prepared the starters. How can you do that with steak? And then to add to our dismay of not being given our starters I had to ask for a steak knife to be given to me for my steak. What type of steak house serves a steak without a steak knife?

And finally, the list of wines that are available for people that only want a single glass is very poor. On the original menu it had only one option, but it was only because we had looked at a separate wine list in the reception that we realized there were a couple of additional options for reds (and I mean only a couple). None very inspiring. Tip to the restaurant: look up Coravin on the internet.

So how did the restaurant respond to missing our starters? You might think that they would "comp" a dessert or glass of wine. Answer: absolutely nothing!

Net, net: Given expectations this was a disappointment. The steak was good, but the overall experience was not, and we left very...

After looking over the menu from our concierge’s suggested restaurant, I knew that recommendation wasn’t a good fit for our family. I went on OpenTable and checked out several places and arrived at Steak Avenue with very basic expectations, but we were so pleasantly with this little gem. For some reason I thought it would have been a much bigger place by the name, but it was cozy and quietly tucked into a hotel lobby…and we had an incredible experience. We arrived early and were seated since our table was ready. We started with some cocktails and soft drinks. The server said it was her first night and she did great. She went over the menu with us and made recommendations including the candy bacon, and it was a hit. Four pieces of bacon are hung from clips and then torched at your table. It was fun and delicious. The family next to us watched with envy as they were ending their meal and clearly didn’t order it for themselves! We got filet mignon’s with fries which came with delicious sautéed vegetables! We also had snow crabs, shrimp, sweet potato fries, the poutine, and an order of kids mac and cheese with ribs, molten lava cake and the crème brûlée. (And can’t forget the chocolate hazelnut candies delivered with the bill). Everything was just perfect. Perfectly cooked steak, perfect temperature on all our items, everything came out from the kitchen in a timely manner, friendly attentive staff and a cute dimly lit space, suitable for family meals or romantic dates. It was actually the first meal in a very long time where everyone in our family equally loved it, a rarity!! If we were in town any longer we would certainly visit a second time. Casual enough to feel comfortable, but fancy enough to...

The atmosphere was warm and inviting. Staff were friendly. Our waiter was prompt and kind. He truly seemed to have an appreciation for customer service and the overall guest experience, it was a very refreshing quality to see.

He introduced himself and started our drinks right away. He explained the service cube placed on our table and how it works, brilliant concept. It was nice to hit the button when we were ready to pay and didn’t have to flag anyone down!

We started with a yummy Cesar salad to start. It was great!

My main was the Poseidon, the wagyu and lobster. I asked for medium rare and it was done correctly . The lobster was cooked perfectly, tender. The mashed potatoes were so creamy and full of flavour. I would return just for the mashed potatoes!

My spouse got a rib eye steak with peppercorn sauce, asked for medium rare and that’s exactly what he got.

I was also happy to see golden beets as a vegetable on our plates, So yummy.

We finished our meal with homemade crème brûlée, so creamy and full of flavour. Topped with a couple strawberries and some orange zest. I savoured every bite but could have done with a less zest or without completely as a personal preference.

We were extremely satisfied with our meal and experience. Would recommend to anyone...

Booked this while here at a conference and saw the good reviews. Vibe: chic-looking place that also seemed casual ,such that if you wanted something more formal this would fit the bill. But we saw a group of 20-somethings in T shirts and jeans who were treated just the same. Service: excellent and prompt. Food: we split the mac&cheese appetizer - had some pieces of beef short rib in it as well. One of the tastier mac & cheeses. We both had steaks - they were able to make a blue-cheese sauce (instead of the standard peppercorn sauce) at an extra cost, but it was nice sauce! My wife enjoyed her filet quiet a bit. I ordered the dry-aged, bone-in rib eye - the steak was good, but to be honest, it was not too different than what I would make myself on my grill. And it didn't have the same type of richer, buttier like taste like other dry-aged steaks I've had. So I assume it was dry-aged. Fries that came with it however were top notch. Dessert was decent - nothing spectacular. Total for 2 people was $210 before tip, that included 2 glasses of wine, one shared appy, two steak mains, a shared dessert, and two coffees. I enjoyed my meal, but when returning on another trip I think I would try other restaurants for variety before returning here. But I still give it 5 stars overall.

I rarely leave one-star reviews, but tonight’s experience truly deserves it. Let me start by saying: I tipped the highest percentage not because the service was great — it was accidentally entered by the server, not my choice. That says a lot. The front-of-house manager did apologize sincerely for the long wait and even gave my son a complimentary chocolate cake, which I appreciate. But here’s what really happened: 1. We were seated at 8:30 PM. At 9:30 PM, I was told that my steak order had just started cooking. One full hour later — completely unacceptable. 2. I ordered hot snow crab legs. They came cold, served right next to a hot steak. Seriously? 3. My 12-year-old son asked for medium steak. It came rare to medium-rare. Would you serve that to a child? 4. We opened a bottle of Italian red wine at 8:40 PM, not cheap by any means. Our steaks arrived an hour later, by which time the wine had completely passed its best state. Yes, the wine itself was enjoyable. But the food? Not worth the hype. Nothing like the glowing reviews I read. Summary: Never. Ever. Coming. Back. Absolutely unacceptable on every level. Not once. Not again. Never!
