An Unforgettable 50th Birthday Celebration in Quebec City
We recently celebrated a 50th birthday at this stunning restaurant in the heart of Quebec City, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in a setting of elegance and charm — surrounded by the city's breathtaking scenery, a beautifully designed space, and an atmosphere that radiated warmth and sophistication.
The highlight of the evening, beyond the incredible food and setting, was the exceptional service we received — especially from Dany. He was truly phenomenal. Attentive, gracious, and effortlessly accommodating, Dany made us feel genuinely cared for every step of the way. His thoughtful attention to detail and friendly demeanor elevated the entire experience, turning a special occasion into a memory we’ll cherish forever.
The food was absolutely amazing — every dish was a work of art, perfectly crafted and full of rich, vibrant flavors. From appetizers to dessert, everything was executed flawlessly and served with impeccable timing.
The ambiance was equally impressive: soft lighting, tasteful decor, and an atmosphere that was both festive and intimate — ideal for a milestone celebration like this.
If you're looking for a place to mark a special occasion — or simply to enjoy an unforgettable meal — look no further. This restaurant is a true gem in Quebec City. With spectacular surroundings, extraordinary cuisine, and service that exceeds all expectations (thank you again, Dany!), it was a 50th birthday celebration we will...
Read moreI had high hopes for Matto, but it was a total disappointment. A man greeted us and handed us the menu, then ignored us completely. A female server took over, but she was inexperienced. We explained my boyfriend had low blood sugar and needed bread and appetizers quickly. She promised bread immediately and appetizers in 5 minutes, but we waited over 15 minutes with no acknowledgment.
I had to go to the front desk to get the bread, which finally came, but the appetizers arrived much later. Even then, the Cozze alla Marinara came with burnt bread slices. The mains were no better—my boyfriend’s Spaghetti Meatballs di Mamma was overcooked and falling apart, while my Pappardelle ai Funghi was undercooked, clumpy, and tasted like raw flour.
To top it off, my boyfriend asked for warm water, but it came so late he had already gone to the restroom feeling unwell. Even paying the bill was a hassle—we had to remind the server twice before she brought it over. Meanwhile, we couldn’t help but notice how attentive and friendly she was to the French-speaking tables nearby.
Terrible food, abysmal service, and an overall miserable experience. It completely soured the mood of our trip, and we’ll...
Read moreSadly not our favourite experience. Had a reservation for 8:30, but they seemed behind and like they were seating MANY tables at the same time. Regardless, we were seated soon enough and looking forward to dinner. We ordered drinks, an appetizer "for two", and placed our main orders at the same time. Drinks and app came timely. The app was a bit small to say it was for 2, and was good, but not nothing special. Our mains (pizza and risotto) took forever (Like 9:45). We had been done our app for well over 30 minutes and at least 2 tables that sat after us were served mains before us. Mains were ok but nothing special. The risotto was a touch overcooked, but edible, however the accompanying asparagus was so withered I honestly couldn't figure out what it was at the start. Ambiance was alright, but the tables were spaced way too close together, that when a server would come to a neighbouring table, their bum was nearly resting on our table, and on several occasions bumped us trying to get by. Service was mediocre and seemed pushy (even the table beside us commented that they felt pressured to buy a more expensive wine). Overall, could be worse, but I...
