I went with two other people on a Saturday evening, looking for a drink and a small snack. We got seated at a table right away and got our food quickly without any long waiting times. The food itself was good, but I would say that the Nachos are what stood out as the better item on the menu. We also tried the Fries with Spicy Mayo, and they were a little bit mushy and not very crispy.
Prices felt fairly okay, especially for the nacho platter, and when you take into account that the restaurant is located in the middle of a tourist quarter.
Situated in the middle of a stair close to, and overlooking, Petit Champlain, the view from the outside seating area is very cozy and you can see down the length of the lovely street below.
If there is anything I would complain properly about, it would be the service. This definitely has to do with WHICH SERVER helps you during your visit. We initially got help from a very nice server, but after ordering our food, another server took over who didn't feel like she was present at all. We tried to flag down a server for some help at our table several times to no avail, and eventually had to walk inside to fetch them ourselves.
This wouldn't have been an issue in and of itself, but the icing on the cake came after we had paid for our meal and drinks; the server came to our table and asked us why we didn't leave a tip. She almost scolded us, saying that we should tip and that in Quebec City we "have to leave a tip because we make 12 dollars per hour". I got a bit surprised by this and found it very rude to complain to your customers; while I wholeheartedly believe service workers everywhere should be paid a living wage, as a Swede I very rarely tip unless the service has been at least a little pleasant and enhanced our stay.
All in all: it's an okay place with decent food and a gamble for good service. Would recommend for a quick snack as the Nacho plate is...
Read moreFood - 4/5 - So being a poutine fan boy my hopes were a bit high coming into this one since I came across Nacho Pub based on a best poutine near me querty and then finding their ratings. I ended up ordering a tex mex poutine, which came with ground beef, BBQ sauce, onion & peppers on top of the gravy and curds. The ground beef was more of a cut up hamburger which wasn't what I was expecting, which would of been more of a taco beef crumbles. I was very happy about the cheese curds as they passed the squeak test. They are also generous in their curd and beef toppings which is a plus. Ultimately was a good flavour combo but just didn't blow me away. Service - 3/5 - I like signage, especially in a busy area that tells you whether to wait to be seated or not, which unfortunately they did not have anything but a small table at front of entry. We sat on the lower outside deck with about 8 tables and the poor girl was rushing back and forth with little to no assistance. Unfortunately never got asked to refill drink or how things were but it wasn't really the girls fault she was legit back and forth with no help. I loved the cubes to indicate if you need service or are ready to pay... But they didn't use them at all. Atmosphere - 3/5 - It was a small quaint seating area with plastic tables and chairs. Being a person who looks around there wasn't much to look at. Was also quite noisy being on the main staircase & had an annoying beeping noise I think from the shop across the way. Overall - 4/5 - It was an enjoyable experience but I don't feel like it was the experience for poutine. Although their food is good, I can't say it blew my mind either but they definitely got a good cheese curds source. Their nachos looked good tho, mind you nacho is in their name so they...
Read moreThis was the most horrible restaurant I’ve ever been to when we arrived. We stayed two minutes for a waitress to come when they clearly saw us When we got seated, the table was moving and the waitress was arrogant and did not know how to fix the table. We kept telling her can you move us? Can you move us there ? Another waitress Came and fixed it while she only moved us to another table then we started ordering. I ordered some nachos with Bacon and jalapeños, sour cream and olives and the nachos were horrible. Some of them Were burned this sour cream was not even sour cream then my daughter ordered a burger with onion rings and that was the most disappointing part: The inside of the burger was not cooked. The meat was not cooked. We asked for it to be rare and it was not rare it was burned and then microwaved and it was hard as a rock my daughter almost broke her teeth eating that no exaggeration. It was hard. You couldn’t even eat it and as an adult my teeth went strong enough to bite into the piece we left and didn’t finish our meal. We told the waitress who served us that our food was horrible and we did not like it and she just forced us to like wrap it up and pay the bill! Before that, the waitress did something that lacked to any common sense, she moved us to a table which a family had previously used and she wiped it up no hygiene issues nothing… Ben, she put our plates upside down on the wet table and we complained I said, can you change our plates and wipe down the table and she refused to wipe down the table but just brought us new plates it was horrible. I do...
