Wow. What a sweet find. As we ran away from the rain we found this sweet little place tucked away in the corner of Place Royale. We sat on the patio thinking we had seen the worst of it. We ordered red sangria & two personal pizzas. A #2 pepperoni & a #17 which was “Tomato sauce, cream, fresh goat cheese from Cassis and Melissa, cherry tomatoes, pesto, grated cheese.” Omg a week later I’m still dreaming about the droolworthy delicious #17. Such an authentic feeling Italian place, sitting there had me reminiscing of my travels and eats in Italy. We enjoyed watching a wedding emerge from across the Place, but quickly were taken aback by a torrential downpour. The staff was so kind, quick & efficient they had all their tables quickly move inside if they wished to do so. It got a little crazy with tables moving and tons of people trying to get a table to get out of the rain. I applaud them for their ability to handle the situation with grace. I will be back to have a sangria & #17 on the sunny patio enjoying the bustles of people shopping, chatting, and wandering about, next time I visit Quebec City.

I have nothing good to say about this restaurant, if I could rate it zero I would. Our waitress “Anne Laure” was rude and unfriendly. Everything was charged extra… to share (3$), remove toppings (4$) and the bread too. Our drinks were 4.50 for a can with a straw in. The pizza was very thin and all toppings were placed to one side as well as they wouldn’t cut the pizza because of equality. Excuse me??The base was uncooked as well… Reply to owner… The prices wouldn’t have been an issue if it wasn’t for the terrible service and uncooked food that was average at best. If you can’t take the criticism you shouldn’t be in the business industry. Why should I be sympathetic? I payed good money for a professional chef to serve me raw dough. You tell me to go have a picnic as if I could have known there would be such bad service and food.

The pizza was so small not even a snack! Although the pasta was very small portion! Not even enough for one person. The pizza had no taste! The pesto pasta was not bad but again so so so small portion! I am not really satisfied! P.S. for your reply: I think you have no sense of customer service. I know the difference between 8 inch and 12 inch pizza. Your pizza crust was only sth like a pitta bread! Have you ever taste your pizza? Could you tell me how it tasted? Let me tell you. It has no taste. I paid 50 bucks for a small snack pizza and a small portion of pasta which almost tastes oily both of which are not enough for one person. And you would better respect English people and speak English instead of replying in French. This is not respectful at all.

Terrible experience, came to eat here around 8pm on a Tuesday night with my Husband. We were outside reading the menu and a server (Antoine) came to us speaking in French. We said kindly “hello, we’re just looking at the menu”. He said “oh ok” and walked away. We took a liking to the menu and were guided to our seat by another waitress, where inside Antoine then became our server. He then started speaking very rapidly in French again, knowing very well of our previous interaction. We said “that’s too much French for us” jokingly, and he says “little English” rudely. I understand we should learn a bit of the language before making the trip but we know the basics and we did not enjoy the interaction at all, he acted as he was better than us and tried belittling us. Honestly we should’ve left after this.

After the rough interaction my husband ordered a Sleeman Rousse, where we find a plug in the beer and we both also ordered a carbonara, which came with under cooked pasta (pasta was very hard). The taste of the sauce was good and beer was good but finding a plug in your drink after being treated the way we were… would not make me trust the establishment. Safe to say we won’t be returning.

Replying to the comment from the owner:

Was told the cap was from the plug but no refund was offered, not even a sorry (all that was really needed). As for Antoine’s attitude, I understand trying to protect him but if he keeps it up with many different non-French speaking customers you will lose business as you’re located in such a busy tourist area he should as well try to improve his English. The pasta was not al dente, my husband and I actually prefer al dente but it was too undercooked still anyways aside from that the sauce did have a really good flavour.

Let’s...

Standing in line outside, the individual said he would check for a table inside and “just a minute”. 10 mins later, no one had come back. The French lady behind us went in to see if they’d forgotten. Finally, they came out to being us inside (several empty tables so perhaps were short-staffed which is understandable right now). We sat and said we were just there for a drink. The server loudly made a sound of disgust and told us that they were a restaurant and not a bar. We had to order food. We left embarrassed (that law went out years ago about having to order food with drink). Why have Sleeman boards outside if you won’t serve anyone asking for a drink? Prepare for the insults to this post as the owner replies with nasty comments to anyone giving a bad review. Please read the responses to the one star reviews as they are outrageous from what the owner says is a professional establishment. This place is low end in a high end area. Response to Owner’s Reply: first of all, I am from this country but your derogatory remark assuming I am not, stated in a degrading way only emphasizes how rude your establishment is. It was how the server addressed us when we asked for drinks. She could have politely and quietly advised us. Instead she made a loud, disgusted noise and loudly told us it wasn’t a bar, it was a restaurant. She repeated it. People were staring at us as we had to gather our things and go. We were made to feel embarrassed. There was no need to handle people like that. Teach your staff some manners instead of operating rudely. This is not slander, it’s fact. We were treated rudely. Your comments however are slanderous and derogatory vs a true review someone is leaving about your place about how they...

This is the absolute WORST restaurant I’ve ever been to in my life. My husband, my daughter and I drove all the way from Niagara Ontario, and we decided to come eat here while exploring old Quebec City on our trip. It was very busy. I asked the host at the front of the patio if he spoke English (in French) and he didn’t but he got another server who did - and I was super greatful. They sat us inside (the patio was full) and they literally forgot about us inside. I had to walk up and flag someone down to ask for a simple water. Normally I understand when it’s busy that waiters can’t come right away. We waited over 20 minutes for a simple water. Meanwhile I watched other waiters serve people inside and ignore us. We did end up ordering our food, but the pasta I ordered didn’t come with everything that was stated in the menu. No one came back to ask us how our food was or if we needed more to drink. We finished our meals and waited about 30 more minutes for anyone to come ask us for our bill. We ended up trying to leave - I have never been so disrespected in a restaurant. I wasn’t going to sit around for hours and be ignored. We did end up paying our bill and complaining about the service and the food and no one seemed to care. Will never reccomend this place. What a horrible experience after traveling so far - and a horrible experience of dining in Quebec City which was something I was so excited about! I can’t help but feel like maybe it’s because we didn’t speak French - I truly hope not, because I tried very hard to communicate respectfully initially. Rude. Horrible. Very Overpriced for...
