We recently had breakfast at Conrads, the first "red flag" came as we waited for ten minutes in their vestibule along with another couple and a family of four. The issue was that not one of the three serving staff took a moment to acknowledge us and let us know what kind of wait to expect. when we were finally seated at a table for two, three window booths opened up, but not cleaned promptly ( I was thinking to be seated near the window), but resigned to stay where we were seated. The server had taken our order, shortly there after brought us our drinks...coffee. The coffee was very good. As we waited for our food I could not help but look around at the state of the restaurant...dirty. the room is nicely decorated with comfortable classy looking chairs, but they are two toned with beige seats and dark backs. Unfortunately if you decide to go with light seats than you best make sure they are cleaned and free from stains. The wall that we sat beside had spill marks on it in two places, the mirror shelf that was on the wall where we sat was in need of dusting. Our food finally arrives, I had ordered the Mexican omelette that was served with their cottage potatoes and toast. My partner ordered the traditional breakfast, that also came with toast, bacon and cottage poptatoes. When our order was first taken the server asked us if we'd like "homemade" Strawberry or blueberry jam, we both selected strawberry. Our breakfast came without the jam, a different server passed by, we mentioned to her that we did not get our jam, she said she would get it and came back with one, single serving of jam. we asked her for another seeing that one would not cover four slices of bread...she exclaimed that if we need more through out the coarse of our breakfast she would bring it when requested. She tried to explain to us that some people waste the jam, that was her reasoniong. Yet the adjacent table received one single serving for each order. We didnt want to argue with her, we'd play the game her way...if that was her resoning why wasnt she coming around to check on us...so instead we waited with our finished breakfast except for our toast that needed jam to finish it, waiting for the server to come by, we had to flag down our original server and ask for more jam. when she returned to us with one more jam after a hardy laugh with the other staff in the kitchen she asked if that woiuld be enough...I felt ridiculled at her remark. The Omelette was tasty, the cottage potatoes were nice and crispy but not seasoned, the bacon was anemic, not crispy at all. Overall, our experience there was not the greatest, the food was decent, the ambience was nice...but needs a clean up! Maybe during the time they are closed from breakfast to dinner they can focus on cleaning. We will not be back, only because of the attitude of the server and the lack of attentivness at our arrival. This review is lenghly because I feel there is much to be gained by my constructive...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant on June 29th, 2024 because we were staying at the Prestige hotel and ordered a calamari, sweet chili chicken wings, the bison rib dish, and a steak. Firstly, the staff came off as very unprofessional. Our server was an asian individual wearing a red plaid shirt, unlike the other servers that wore black attire. He was very rude and had no manners, especially when pouring water. He would walk up to our table and say “water?” after 15 minutes of us trying to track him down. It felt like he was rushing our table even though there were only 3-4 tables occupied at the restaurant. We asked him about the bison ribs and he had mentioned that they were precooked and large pieces, which made sense because the menu stated that it was “braised.”
Once the food arrived, we were really confused because the wings appeared soggy. Soggy to the point where you can feel that the meat had been boiled. My ribs were smothered in barbecue sauce, yet every bite felt like the meat was boiled and then tossed with the sauce, which should not be called “braising” and no mushrooms to be seen on my plate, as stated in the menu. My dad ordered the steak, which had raw mushrooms. By the time we noticed the mushrooms on the steak, we had already called the server to fix our appetizers. The server kept passing by our table. My dad went up to another server and called for a manager because we were waiting for way too long. The manager came over and did not apologize, instead he said that “mistakes happen.” Quite blunt and rude for a manager to say when more than one dish had been sent out like this. He said they would remake the wings, which we didn’t eat because it came out the same way. The discount and remaking of food did not apply to the fact that my whole family got sick that night with food poisoning. We were unable to sleep the whole night because of this disgusting food.
We have tried bison meat before and this has never been the case. I wonder how they make their tomahawk steak, given that they cannot sufficiently cook bison and vegetables. I am concerned about the conditions of this kitchen and the individuals handling food due to this horrendous and absolutely disgusting food. Not sure what the hiring process is for this place, but clearly the staff need to be replaced...
Read moreFood wasn't that great. Resteraunt was loud.
Originally we went there for dinner the night before and they didn't have any great options. We ended up going to the Horsetheif instead and it was sooo much more worth it!!!
When I was looking up breakfast options, the place I wanted to go wasn't open until lunch and the next best thing seemed to be this place, but I can tell you right now I DO NOT recommend it!
My kids ordered from the adult menu as it was cheaper for them to get what they wanted there over the kids menu as we would have to pay for add ons. My husband ordered the Mexican omlett. It was just ok. Quite small. I did like the cottage potatoes. That's probably the best thing at that place. I ordered the avocado toast. Nothing special and didn't come with any sides. Just overpriced poor food.
My sons meal said this on the menu: 1 egg, 1 bacon or 1 sausage or 1 ham, pancake or cottage potatoes and toast. He only got 1 tiny egg, 1 bacon and 1 pancake with nothing on it and no toast. We confronted them about it. The first lady said it was a misprint. 2nd lady came out of no where and made excuses saying it's proper English that she got from her English teacher (this waitress had an accent and really had no reason to come to our table making excuses). They admitted they encountered this concern in the past from other customers. You would think if it kept happening they would correct it on there menu. The 3rd waitress, who was our actual waitress, apologized and said the wording was funky as it actually should say, "1 egg, 1 bacon or 1 sausage or 1 ham, pancake or cottage potatoes OR toast."
We expected them to bring out the toast after apologizing for the misunderstanding, but they never did. So disappointed in the customer service, quality of food and management.
On top of that I wanted to treat us to New York Cheesecake with pureed strawberries for $10.00. It was a joke. It was 2 tiny slices that weren't even very thick and the strawberries were jam. I would have rather bought a whole cheesecake from the grocery store. I'm a huge cheesecake lover and this was the WORST I've ever had.
