This is my favourite place for regular wonton soup but I am giving a 3 star review as after a few visits I've noticed some deficiencies. The special wonton soup has only 2 wontons in it (so the soup name is a little misleading) and the crab did not taste like crab, (possibly imitation crab). The chowmein veggies were raw so it was a bit unappetizing in something that's usually stir fried. The most disappointing thing for me is the salad rolls (because I LOVE a good salad roll) with peanut sauce, they are very bland and the sauce is not like any peanut sauce I've ever had, it's like a red chilli glaze style sauce with hoisin and peanuts mixed in, not the usual peanut butter and coconut milk sauce I'm used to. Just a bit more of a cook on the veggies, a better sauce (and some carrots and cucumber in the salad rolls) for the salad rolls and either a different name for the special wonton soup OR add more wontons, would make these items great. Otherwise, the service is always fast and the staff are so nice, I will still come here for the wonton soup, but I hope the owners will adjust some of their recipes so that everything is...
Read moreI am writing this review purely out of spite for a previous reviewer who clearly hates joy, good food, EXCELLENT service and listening to simple direction.
If you go to Pho Thuy Duong, be ready for a shocking experience. They consistently go above and beyond for every customer they have, even the ones that don't deserve it.
As a regular of a couple times a week, it is evident no matter what time of day you arrive or how many butts are in the seats, you will be treated like you're the only table in the joint.
Allergies are a bummer. No question. Eating out would be wildly intimidating if you were unfortunate enough to be stricken with such dietary inconvenience, BUT IF YOU ARE, listen to the restaurant, and you wont get sick. Simple.
You were told not to eat the bean sprouts Elizabeth, but you did anyways. A simple google search for "bean sprouts vs soy allergy" will also tell you so. Shame on you for blaming this place for making you sick. You are leaving out some rather crucial elements of your experience in...
Read moreWish I lived in Red Deer. There was a delicious depth of flavour to everything we ordered.
To start: Chicken & Shrimp salad rolls, crunchy spring rolls. Main entrees: Spicy Shrimp & Beef Pho - wonderful citrusy spice, as well as Wonton soup which came with tons of extras loaded in the bowl. Portions were generous we both ordered medium size Pho and Soup, as we had extras on the side. Most namely our shared plate of Lemongrass Chicken and veggies served on a bed of coconut rice...absolutely delicious so happy to have leftovers for lunch next day. Service was warm, welcoming and attentive. Our dishes were served quickly, which was surprising throughout the numerous take out/pick up orders flying out of the restaurant at the same time. People love this place - it's obvious and I can see why! Flavours are authentic and really delicious. Prices are very reasonable. I'll definitely be going back to try some more deliciousness. You have got to...
