UPDATE:
The general manager contacted me immediately via email, text and phone. She explained how their terminal works and it is the same terminal for in house dining as well as take out. Once a scene card is swiped, which mine was, it automatically goes to the next screen, which is the tip % and automatically highlights the middle option of 18%. If you select “custom” you can change it to no tip and carry on. I was not aware of this, and have not experienced this before, so I incorrectly assumed the worker preselected this tip for me. I was wrong! The general manager offered a gift certificate, and I thanked her and advised I was not reaching out to scam or get anything for free, the explanation provided was enough, and gave me the clarity to move forward. She insisted! I appreciated the clear explanation and extremely prompt reply from Zarina. I have updated my review as a result!
Placed an order via phone for pickup. When I grabbed the food and was provided the terminal to pay the worker who I believe was a manager behind the bar had preselected a tip via %, and had highlighted an amount of 18% for me to just tap my card to pay. I was quite shocked as I was not able to back out of this screen on my own and became fairly uncomfortable by the way he was staring at me. It felt challenging to be honest . I was not prepared for this and have never had an establishment do this on any pickup order ever. I selected a lower %, tapped my card and left. Just be prepared if picking up an order via phone. You may want to consider ordering online and paying in advance. Yes, I understand I could have questioned this and refused to pay, but you would have had to have been there to fully understand. Just be prepared. When I came home and discussed this my son stated the same thing happened to him with a girl and he refused to pay the tip and had her adjust it. She stated to him she must have hit the wrong button when handing him the terminal. It just isn’t sitting well so thought I would advise others of this pattern at this establishment...
Read moreWorst experience in a very long time. 7 of our family went to Montana's today for a graduation/birthday celebration. The place was virtually empty at 4:15 pm. We waited 15 minutes before anybody came to the front door. A nice young man ran over from the bar and seated us. Another 15 minutes passed and none of the servers came to our table. The fellow from the bar came over and took our drink and appy orders. The drinks and appys were slow coming as he was busy in the bar which was on the other side of the building. Servers are looking after tables all around us as the place started to fill up by 5. We finally get our drink and appys from our bar guy but no one asked us for our meal order. He then takes our meal order but again disappears back to the bar. after 45 minutes we stop someone delivering meals and ask them where our order is. 10 minutes later 2 of the 7 meals come out. a fish and Chip and a sampler. the fish was cold, cold, the fries were cold. the baked potato was cold and the gray was coagulated. 7 minutes later the other 5 meals come out and they are hot and fine. Still no one was looking after us till the bar came to see if we got our meals yet. I sent the fish and chips back. My daughter asked me not to make a scene about everything and now my meal so i politely told them not to try again as we are approaching two hours. Many tables have come and gone with hot meals but not us. 2 hours and 15 minutes later the bar guy came back so we ask him for the bill. He brings it but they have not taken off the fish and chips and no one has addressed the un edible baked potato for my wife which was still there along with the inedible gravy.
The lack of management was evident and i feel sorry for our bar guy. What i don't feel sorry for is the total lack of caring and or respect for demonstrated by the owners of this...
Read moreMy dining experience was just okay. We waited over half an hour for our food but that's not much of a concern for me. It was a busy night and I know what staffing situations are like right now so the wait didn't really matter to me. The server was very polite, suffered through my father's teasing, and gave us a good experience. However some of the more senior looking servers were a little pushy and continuously returned to our table to see if we were needing anything to the point of the excessive. I understand that you want to make sure that your customers are having their needs met but the amount and frequency of their visits were a little uncomfortable and more than what was welcome. I ordered a mid rare steak with sweet potato fries that had a chipotle sauce for dipping. The steak came back to be about 15 seconds away from well done but was seasoned well and was not an issue overall. The fries were done well and about on par with every other restaurant in the city but the dipping sauce was disappointing to say the least. The "chipotle" sauce was basically just ranch mixed with mayo and some other spices mixed in, none of which were able to be tasted. Honestly, and it pains me to write this, I'd rather have sweet potato fries from A&W. The fries are a similar quality with a much better sauce. As far as pricing, it ended up on a bit more of the ridiculous side for the quality. The entire meal for the three of us that were there came up to about $150. For the food we got I'd expect it to be more around the $100-$120 mark. Not a bad meal,...
