I visited Jay's Burger on Victoria Day around 11:30 a.m., right when they opened. I had actually called the day before to confirm they'd be open, since there was no update on their social media and Google just said “hours may vary” which I usually don’t trust on holidays.
When I arrived, there was already a group of two dining in. During our visit, two more parties came in, and I heard what sounded like an online order notification (probably from SkipTheDishes or UberEats). Otherwise, it was a fairly quiet and relaxed dine-in experience. We kind of enjoyed having the restaurant to ourselves.
The interior is minimal but thoughtfully done. The seating is unique but comfortable overall. I especially liked the playful decorative touches like the smiley-face bell and the giant burger sculpture near the self-ordering kiosk.
I ordered the Oklahoma Onion Burger as a double patty combo with curly fries (a $1 upcharge) and a vanilla milkshake. The burger came on a potato bun (my favorite) which was soft and fresh. The patties were well-smashed and not overly salty, which I appreciated. The toppings were generous, especially the onions, which were a highlight.
The curly fries were crispy, not greasy, and well-seasoned, tasty enough to enjoy without ketchup. The vanilla shake was smooth and flavorful without being too sweet. It was on the runnier side rather than thick, but I didn’t mind that. I do wish the kiosk had an option to remove the whipped cream, but overall the ordering process was smooth and straightforward.
There wasn’t much direct service involved, as ordering and pickup were self-serve. I ordered via the kiosk, received a text when the food was ready, and picked it up from the counter myself. Cleanup is also self-managed, with trash bins and a spot for trays. That said, the staff did say goodbye on our way out, which was a nice touch. The space appeared clean, though I didn’t use the washroom, so I can’t speak to...
Read moreJay's Burger in Richmond Hill is a delightful culinary gem that truly redefines the burger experience. Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately impressed by its modern, bright, and clean design, which perfectly complements the charming ambiance of the historic village. Located in the heart of Richmond Hill, the restaurant is surrounded by an array of beautiful shops and vibrant Persian restaurants that add a unique cultural touch to the area. The burger itself is exceptional, a true standout in quality and taste. Jay's Burger offers a distinctive twist with their flat meat style, delivering a burger cooked to perfection. Available in single, double, and triple sizes, with or without cheese, each option is prepared with careful attention to detail, ensuring a satisfying bite every time. This innovative approach to a classic dish makes it one of the best burgers I’ve ever tasted. Service is another highlight at Jay’s Burger. The staff are friendly and polite especially Bahar, contributing to an overall pleasant dining experience. Additionally, the restaurant provides several ordering options, including delivery through apps, pick-up, dine-in, and even ordering via a tablet in-store, making it convenient for every customer. My only minor disappointment was a longer-than-expected wait time for my pick-up order, about thirty minutes on a busy Friday night. Nonetheless, this small hiccup does not overshadow the overall excellence of the food and service. Overall, Jay’s Burger is a must-visit destination for burger enthusiasts seeking quality, innovation, and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended for any...
Read moreDropped by Jay’s Burgers on Yonge Street and tried three of their top options—the Classic, the Jay Burger, and the Oklahoma Burger—and each one brought something different to the table.
The Classic Burger is exactly what you want from a solid, no-frills burger: juicy patty, fresh toppings, and a nicely toasted bun that holds everything together. Simple, satisfying, and perfectly cooked.
The Jay Burger was the star of the night—stacked and messy in the best way. Double patties, cheese, bacon, and that house sauce that brings it all together without overpowering anything. It’s definitely the “go big or go home” option, and it delivered.
The Oklahoma Burger was a pleasant surprise. The grilled onions smashed into the patty added a ton of flavor and a little sweetness that balanced the savory beef really well. It felt unique without trying too hard.
Sides-wise, we went with the fries and it were great. Fries were crispy and full of flavor, not soggy or oily like you sometimes get, more of classic and well-seasoned.
Service was quick, and the staff were friendly even with a steady stream of customers. You can tell this place has a loyal local following, and now we get why.
The place itself is super clean and shiny, and the decor is modern. The seatings are very comfy and at the same time very creative.
Whether you’re craving a classic or something a bit more stacked, Jay’s has it covered. We’ll definitely be back to try more (and maybe double up on that Jay...
