I live in Mississauga and I often make the trip out to the Markham area to get some Kum Hong BBQ. Why? Because this is the best chinese BBQ you will ever find. I've been going here for years now. The lineup is always to the front entrance door but the wait is WAY WORTH IT. Although you can sit and dine in, it's really more intended for take-away. This is a modest little mom & pop operation. They're friendly and they notice when you become a regular. I don't even need to give them my order anymore, I just walk in and they know me. If you come late in the day it's likely the food may have cooled down since the line up usually means the door is propped open. They keep a microwave on site for you to heat things up or you can wait till you get home and reheat it then. But the earlier you get there the more likely the food will be piping hot.

Get what I get, it's the best. Order a "Large" with "BBQ duck, BBQ pork and Roast Pork" with "extra green" which is an onion, salt, ginger and oil mixture which just goes so well with the tender, juicy pork. all together you'll be looking at about $12.50 all in. Fantastic deal for perfectly cooked and perfectly prepared food. More than generous portion sizes. The madam who wields the cleaver can be seen there at her chopping block, preparing the orders from the morning through to the evening, day after day after day. She VERY fairly trims unnecessary fat and bone to give you an expertly prepared meal. This lady works her butt off every day so make sure you tip because they go above and beyond to provide you with a unique product that they're charging at a more than competitive price. Trust me, you'll love it!

(Pro Tip: after you get your take-out container, slip on over to the mcdonalds right beside and grab a mango, pineapple smoothie. It goes wicked with the bbq)

(as for my celiac friends, i'm prrreeettty sure there is soy sauce in the marinades and sauces so i wouldn't call this GF but that doesn't really stop me. It's my go-to cheat treat. BUT I wanna say i've never reacted to it. But this may be because i'm not overly sensitive to trace amounts of gluten. So use your...

Serious health inspection required. Ordered the roast pork and bbq pork. One of the ladies proceeds to pick up the piece of meat — WITH HER BARE HANDS, NO GLOVES ON — and proceeds to cut them up and package in takeout container. I didn’t see her washing her hands prior to. Splatters of liquid (?) on the walls near where the meats were kept also observed. Place looked overall not clean by any means.

Also establishment is cash only — there were no signs to indicate that they were cash only ANYWHERE so I was surprised while cashing out and had to quickly run off to get cash.

Food was mediocre at best — the roast pork was way too oily and fatty. My friends and I could only eat one piece of the meat and that was it. We simply could NOT have anymore. The roast pork was also dry.

The two ladies at the store though, were nice and helpful and spoke pretty good English.

All in all, not sure why this place is so highly rated. I would never come back due to the lack of hygiene. Thank goodness no one got sick after eating their food, though I wouldn’t have been...

Been eating here for 20+ years. I can tell you it's been the same owners since, with the two sisters and brother always serving up tasty Chinese BBQ meals. I only order roast pork so I'm partial. Always hits the spot. Not too lean, not too fat (both are the cases for other locations). Regarding someone's comment about the servers being "disgusting", I think that's an unfair statement - and speaks to nothing about the food quality or service. I've never had a bad meal attributed to this establishment, and they are better than most Chinese BBQ places in terms of the cuts of pork. Is it the culture to use bare hands to handle the food? I dunno, never contemplated or questioned the cleanliness...i would say they likely take precautions around handling food like most food establishments (do they not have to pass York Region dine safe standards?) - they've been around for 20+ so they must be doing everything right - I highly recommend this place for the...

Ordered 3 combo roast pork/ bbq pork rice, 1roast pork rice and an extra ginger and onion sauce. The lady at the cashier short change me $1 and charged me $1 more as well. When I pointed this out to her, she did not like it. It is not the first incident, they seem to do this especially if you order more. She substantiated the extra $1 by stating that the price for ginger and onion is now $6 and not $4.99 as posted on the board. On picking up the order, I noted that the ginger and onion is missing, she pointed out to the small container in the bag ( see pic) , I asked this is $6 ? She said yes!! Those of you that have purchased extra g & o sauce, please let me know if this is the right size of container for $6!!! To top it all, when we got home, instead of the roast pork rice she gave me bbq pork rice !!! Will never go back to this place again, rude ladies with no ethics and constantly overcharging and cheating customers !! Shameful !!! Not worthy of any stars !!

Amazing BBQ place! They have a super freshly made selection and everything is cooked to perfection! In my experience, meat is always tender and juicy. They make batches throughout the day, so fresh batches vary. However, even when you get some of the meat at the end of the day, the meat is still not too dry or tough! Their prices are also amazing. Very reasonable meal and meat prices, with generous portions! You’ll definitely be getting great value if you come here. All transactions are cash only though! Service is a bit slower than you may expect. They cut the meat per order so it could take some time to get through orders, so don’t come if you’re in a rush! I think it’s worth the wait. Definitely recommend coming by for BBQ meats, you will not be disappointed! I always get the char siu (BBQ pork) because it’s a classic and delicious. Ask for half fat for that extra juicy flavour!
