First visit to ME southeast Asian cuisine for dinner. Our party of 4 came on a Wednesday around 6pm and were seated right away. There was one other table with a large party. This is the same location where Bali restaurant used to be. The interior has the same seating as the previous restaurant with a glow up on floors, bar, new lighting and freshly painted walls. Friendly service. Good variety of dishes and decent prices for the quality of food.
We ordered:
Satay Skewers Platter $35 - comes skewers of chicken, beef and lamb (3 skewers each). Chicken was is on the drier side but still good. Beef was a bit tough. Lamb had good flavour but was quite fatty. The peanut sauce came late so we were almost done eating the skewers by the time it arrived.
1 Singapore Laksa Noodle with Mixed Noodles (egg noodles & rice noodles) $16. Really good flavour. Noodles were perfect. Like the option to choose both noodles because we could make up our minds. Highly recommend.
1 Thai Fried Rice Shrimp $23 (crab or vegetable are the other options with different pricing). Typical flavour. Good portion.
Tom Yum Goong Soup (S) $10.00. Delicious. 😋 Good amount of spice. Decent size. Would order this again.
1 Miang Goong (Miang Shrimp) (S) 4pcs $12.95. Refreshing and flavourful. A little messy to eat since it’s essentially a lettuce taco but oh so yummy.
Me Platter (S) 8pcs $19.95. Sampling of appetizers with crispy vegetables roll, pork cake, shrimp cake and deep fried wonton but they didn’t have wonton which was disappointing so it was replaced with calamari instead. Okay dish.
1 Mango Sticky Rice (Khao Niew Mamuang) $12. Really enjoyed this dessert. Mango was sweet and fresh and displayed so beautifully. The sticky rice was also delicious.
Overall pleased with our experience. There is a 5% discount if paying my cash but they also take credit. Would return and try...
Read moreFirst time trying this restaurant since seeing good ratings, so we tried 3 dishes. Unfortunately all 3 turns out not as good as expected from this visit.
-the good- In general , the 3 dishes we tried, care has put into the presentation and they are all pretty and neat, and all are served on our table while the food are still piping hot, which is good 👍! The portions are fair and big. The service are also very friendly and polite , and the restaurant is quite spacious, clean and comfortable!
-Now the bad from my opinion:
Laksa and Bah-Kut-The : both of them, the broth/soup portion for the corresponding dishes are quite watery or bland. It’s lacking the flavor that the dish suppose to have, the taste are too light and watery to us, the broth/soup tastes plays a big role in the dish IMO. We also let the server know.
The Morning Glory veggie dish - the taste is pretty good with Thai bean sauce taste. The biggest issue I have is too much oil… it has a thick layer of oil in the dish which made it too heavy for us to eat and we become fatigue from the oil. We did let the server know too so hopefully kitchen will fix this… just too oily for my mouth .. 😣( see the veggie dish pic)
The asking price is not cheap as well, so for this visit, it would be a less than 3 stars experience for us so I just give it a 3 stars...
Read more👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾 After reading ME's reply, I think I need to change my rating.
This is really a restaurant doesn't accept negative comment. Good comments can be made by YouTubers or Friendzones, the owner need to hear comments that the Shrimp Cake was not delicious, the Nasi Lemak didn't have seasoning. I am not talking the cooking did not fit my taste, I am talking the taste is not good and the food was not authentic Malaysian cooking!!! No authentic at all !!!
Food Ordering and Table Service is great, I would like to rate 5 stars.
I visited on Thursday Lunch Time, and ordered Bak Kut Teh & Nasi Lemak - the only Malaysian taste in the menu, but the dishes made people quite disappointed.
Bak Kut Teh ($16+5) is just ok, not impressive at all; come with "shrimp cake" as a combo which is not delicious. Nasi Nemak ($20) is too bad: rice without taste of coconut milk(but it is called椰漿飯!!!), the deep fried chicken is totally not that cooking style, and almost no seasoning, not worthy at all. Maybe we had chose the "wrong" taste (seems that most clients ordering Thai dishes); but if Malaysian dish is not ME's specialist, I would suggest ME deleting the Malaysian dish in the menu.
Hope to see some...
