Beyond disappointing. Really overrated Chinese restaurant. Super overpriced and they also charge 12% service charge AFTER TAX amount without telling you. We questioned why the service charge is on the after tax amount AND THEN they corrected our bill saying “that’s how they normally write it on the bill”. We ordered the 4-6 people king crab and lobster combo and it was supposed to be $618+tax+tips (618x.12=74.16, 618x1.13=698.34+74.16=772.5) meal for 6 people which ended up to be $872 (872-772.5=$99.5). The combo was supposed to have a 6 lbs king crab and 2.5 lbs lobsters and we dined at 530pm. What actually happened was, they told us they don’t have any 6lbs king crab (after we placed the order and the crab and lobster were chosen for us) and we were forced to pay an extra $111 for a 7.59lbs king crab (when we asked about other options, they said this is the smallest one available), which we weren’t told when we made the order and they could have told us earlier so we had the choice to change our dishes perhaps. The servers at the time of taking our order was communicating via mics with the rest of the team, as soon as we placed our order, they already signalled the team to prepare for our seafood. So they clearly knew what was available, so why weren’t we told at the time what the weights were and if we would agree to those prices? As a restaurant of this size, we just felt like we were taken advantage of and forced to be upsold and there’s no backing out of the meal you had already ordered 15mins ago.
MEAL: Soup was good. Then came the dry aged 16 oz steak, the garlic was white and uncooked. Will let that pass. Then came the signature lobster dish which was supposed to be spectacular as their signature dish, but it was bland, it didn’t have any garlic taste or 避風塘 taste which it claims to be, which is dry spicy garlic taste, it had none of that. The lobsters also came with fries, and the fries were disgusting, it was fried twice and it was super dry and hardened without any fries texture to it. The lobsters meat were fresh, we will give it that, but honestly any other chinese restaurants can make a better lobster dish than them. Why did we have to pay such a premium price for mediocre dishes. The lobsters were also 2.65lbs which we weren’t told we were charged an extra $4.50. The King crab was served nicely across a long plate steamed with a layer of egg white, but the taste was also bland. Out experience of steamed garlic king crab is always fresh and sweet to taste. But this king crab was just bland, not that it’s not freshly cooked, but again, any other chinese restaurant can make this dish better. Lastly, when we were served dessert (which chinese restaurants would typically give red bean soup) but they gave us a cold jelly dish, and when we asked what it is, the server said “I do not know”.
Overall, this meal is literally not worth even $500. We aren’t sure if this is just the Toronto seafood standard, because we are from Vancouver, but this restaurant did not live up to its hype. Definitely won’t recommend. We just felt like the fresh seafood was wasted due to the mediocre cooking. The atmosphere looked grand but...

I just visited Jumbo Lobster at their new Leslie location, and I can confidently say—it’s an easy five stars from me. The entire experience felt elevated compared to their previous spot, which I already loved!
First off, the new space is absolutely gorgeous. It’s got a luxe, modern vibe with elegant touches that make it feel perfect for both special occasions and a bougie seafood night out. The lighting, the layout, the overall ambience—everything has been thoughtfully designed to create a polished and relaxing dining experience.
The service has levelled up too. Staff were warm, attentive, and impressively efficient, even though the restaurant was buzzing. Our server took time to explain the menu, made excellent recommendations, and kept everything flowing smoothly without ever feeling rushed.
Now let’s talk food—still the star of the show. The lobster tower remains a must-order: fresh, buttery lobster layered over crispy fries that are somehow even better than I remembered. The cube garlic steak? Melt-in-your-mouth tender and perfectly seasoned. I also appreciated the signature touch where they bring out the live seafood before preparing it—adds a fun, interactive element that never gets old.
Every dish was plated beautifully and packed with flavour. You can taste the freshness and quality in every bite. From appetizers to dessert, the meal was consistently excellent.
Whether you're a die-hard seafood fan or just looking to indulge, the new Jumbo Lobster is worth the hype. They’ve managed to keep all the things that made the original location a favourite, while elevating everything else. Highly recommend checking out this Leslie spot—you’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

I visited Jumbo Lobster in their previous location and opted for the set menu. Every dish was incredibly tasty, making it a must-visit for any seafood lover. One unique aspect of their service is that they bring out the lobster or crab for you to see before they prepare it, which adds a special touch to the dining experience.
The cube garlic steaks were a standout for me, perfectly cooked and well-seasoned, complementing the vegetables nicely. The lobster tower was undoubtedly my favourite dish, with crispy fries that were a delightful addition.
Despite the restaurant being quite busy, the service was still decent. The staff managed to be attentive and responsive, ensuring we had a pleasant experience.
I visited Jumbo Lobster with high expectations, and they did not disappoint. The food was so delicious that it overshadowed any minor delays due to the crowd. This place is perfect for both special occasions and casual seafood feasts. I highly recommend Jumbo Lobster for its fresh seafood, delicious dishes, and unique dining experience. Whether you are a local or a tourist, it's a culinary treat not to be missed! Excited to check out this new Leslie location soon!

Read moreDue to popular demand and the fact that many peeps luv seafood and want more seafood, Fishman Lobster Clubhouse has opened a 2nd location in the Woodbine and Denison area (beside Diana's Seafood) called "Jumbo Lobster".
In addition to the famous seafood dishes, this Jumbo Lobster Seafood Restaurant offers dim sum during mornings and afternoons plus they offer suckling pig as a dish or as part of the combo that isn't available at Fishman Lobster Clubhouse.
However, after visiting Jumbo Lobster for the 2nd time, we would like to conclude that....we pretty much prefer the original location, which is Fishman Lobster Clubhouse, STILL the undisputed champion!
We prefer the original location at Fishman Lobster Clubhouse coz we felt the original place may have better equipment, cooking utensils, better culinary team. The "Wok Chi" at Fishman Lobster Clubhouse is better, more flavourful, more tasty, more consistent and you could tell the lobster or king crab legs are being cooked under high temperature heat and even after serving on plates for a while, you can still feel the heat and hot temperature coming out of these seafood dishes.
However, at the Jumbo Lobster, we could sense the temperature isn't as hot as it cools down much quicker after the seafood dishes are put in the plate. Perhaps is the cooking tools, equipment are still relatively new that they need to break in for a while before they can find the ideal temperature and find the right calibration to other factors.
However, overall, the dinner at Jumbo Lobster is still pretty good. I am super happy when they serve up the jelly pudding vs the stale macarons that they normally used.
We prefer more dinner combo options where they don't include steak as our parents don't eat steak, we prefer more options that focus solely on the seafood such as lobsters and king crabs.
The lobster fried rice isn't the greatest, for some reason, I enjoyed the fried rice at the Fishman Lobster Clubhouse. That location has fried rice that is grain by grain, it uses chopped Chinese broccoli and carrots vs here at Jumbo Lobster, rice are more dry, blend, and they used stale dry peas and corn that isn't as fresh.
And I miss the fried mini fishes that comes with the fried Mt. Lobster. They went with the fries which isn't my cup of tea. I think they should provide the patrons with options. If some don't like mini fishes, then they can have fries but don't just take the mini fishes option away coz others prefer fries. And that's the moment of truth.
In summary, if you want suckling pig or Jumbo Lobster is a closer location to your home, and you feel a modern, marble walls, nicer chandliers are something more important to you, then Jumbo Lobster would be your choice.
But if you care more about the quality of the food, the wok chi and the better culinary dining experience and don't really care as much of the decor and interior designs, then Fishman Lobster Clubhouse is the "Undisputed Champion" of...
