Anna's Cake House — Restaurant in Richmond

Anna's cake shop is one of my favourite Chinese bakeries in Vancouver. They have a couple locations in Vancouver. My must order products have to be the chicken pie, the cappuccino tart, the walnut Napoleon and the cream bun. The chicken pie - I don't know how they make the chicken so juicy and flavourful. There's also gelatine bits or collagen bits in it that just bring the whole dish together. The pie crust is always nice, crispy and buttery. Never a let down with the chicken pie. The cappuccino tart is for coffee lovers. It tastes a lot like coffee and is really creamy and delicious. The tart crust is crunchy and always holds well. The walnut Napoleon can be a hit or miss depending on the day. Some days I find that it gets soggy and other days it's nice and crispy so it all depends on luck. The cream bun is also a hit and miss product. Some days the bun is nice and fluffy and other days it's kind of tough. The butter cream on the inside is always delicious though.

My biggest peeve are the ever rising prices. They are still cheap compared to other bakeries but they are starting to get too pricey to be a daily bakery. I remember the old prices and the new prices just hurt. But that's not their fault, that's just how things are now.

2025.10.26 The Beef Puff Pastry and Chicken Pie both offer a very tasty flaky crust. The Beef is lacking in quantity, there's very little filling in it to barely taste it's even there. The chicken pie is larger and holds more chicken but it's still a small amount of meat.

It's alright as a treat but not for a meal. For a meal, go get a proper amount of meat and protein, and not load up on the carbs in the pastry. This is a pastry shop so keep the consumption small from here, it's calorie dense and light on nutrients. You want your regular food to be nutrient dense.

I haven't had a cake from Anna's Cake House in a long time. I had it again today. It still tasted good and the quality has remained the same. The cake design looked the same many years ago. I liked the cake was not too sweet and it had mixed fruits on top and inside the layers.

There are different Chinese bakeries such as St. Germaine's Bakery, Maxim's, and T&T's in the market. Anna's Cake House may consider providing more varieties or update the cake designs or presentations in order to keep up the business among these bakeries. Anna's Cake House is a very traditional...
