Decided to try Katte Japanese Katsu & Poke. It was not busy no matter what time of the day I visited the food court of Lansdowne Centre. Ordered Curry Katsu Pork (deep fried pork cutlet with curry sauce). Waited about 10 minutes. Pleasantly surprised by the portion and doubtful of whether I could finish half of the food, I spooned some curry sauce which was served on the side, drizzled it on a few slices of the cutlet and the rice, and, oh my gosh, they were delicious! The cutlet is on the lean side & covered heavily in bread crumbs. That might explain why some reviews said they are drier than normal. Eating the cutlet without sauce could render them both harder and drier, and the bread crumbs could be rough on the tongue, so beware. I have no ability to tell if the meat was a fresh cut or not, but I would say the cutlet was large and nothing was wrong in the taste and smell. The cutlet was piping hot and irresistible. Rice looked like a tiny portion but was enough for my appetite. Shredded Cabbage Salad was thinly cut and the (fruit based) dressing was great and make a great balance with the greasiness of the cutlet. For a food court stall, the quality of food from Katte is above my expectations. Definitely will come back for their $12 curry katsu. Next time, I might get their brown rice and a cup...

I was partly through my poke bowl when I found something that looks like it could be the leg of an insect (see picture). I went to them and they insisted it was seaweed and sprinkled some into my bowl to show me. It still didn’t look like seaweed to me but i told them it was okay. But after examining my bowl, the thing in found didn’t look like anything that was in the bowl so i went back to tell them that i didn’t think it was seaweed, the man and woman working became very defensive and kept saying it was, I told them that I wasn’t upset at the situation but they weren’t being very nice and told me that I finished the bowl before showing them even though there was still a decent amount left in the bowl so there was nothing that they could do. Im aware that it may have not been anything like a bug, the only problem was their unpleasant response towards me bringing it up and being very defensive about it even though I wasn’t even make a huge...

My go-to for cheap Japanese curry. Food is great and I love how they give two giant pieces of chicken with the chicken katsu. (See picture... Though by the time I took the photo I'd already eaten a few pieces.) Chicken is always crispy and delicious. Curry is flavorful and satisfying, and rice is fluffy. I would give them 5 stars except they are quite stingy with the amount of curry...I really wish they would at least fill it to the top of the container but there's always 1cm left of room at the top (not to mention a gap at the bottom of the container). Whenever I eat here I have to be very careful not to run out of curry sauce. Personally, I'd like the option of paying extra $1-2 to have more curry with my meal.

Random other notes if you're planning to eat here: They always seem to be sold out of pork katsu around dinner time. Would try to eat here earlier...

I'm definitely coming back here when I next crave katsu. It wasn't busy when I went around 2pm, and honestly I'm suprised because their katsu is delicious and the platter is generous for their prices. I bought a pork katsu and a chicken katsu for $12 a plate, and was pleasantly stunned by the amount of food they give you (there were TWO layers of meat in the takeout box! What the heck!!) Both cutlets were moist, amazingly breaded and fried, the rice is cooked well, and I like the sauce they give you on the cabbage (i think it's a mango based dressing). Everything came hot and fresh. The curry was okay, kind of reminiscent of pre-packaged curry so it's nothing to write home about, but it's the quality and quantity of the proteins that's convinced me to keep Katte as a prime spot for lunch.
