My review is towards the service which my mother had received today Saturday July 8th, 2023 approximately 1:50pm. We were a party of 3 having lunch. We have been a customer of DINESTY since their first location opened. For this particular location we have been here handful of times. Their potstickers, fluffy pancakes which they no longer have was so delicious and of course they’re XLB.

Unfortunately it had to come down to a google review on how IMPATIENT and RUDE this one waitress provided towards my mothers simple question regarding to a bubble tea order.

So this is how it went down. My mother politely got a waitress’s attention. My mother spoke English to the waitress because she does not speak Mandarin. It was a few simple questions regarding to a ā€œbrown sugar milk tea.ā€ At this time the restaurant wasn’t full house or extremely busy at all. Handful of empty tables.

My mothers question was she wants 30% less sweet, no pearls and substitute with red bean etc. For the people that don’t know any ā€œbrown sugar milk teaā€ from Yi Fang tea shops you can’t change or substitute. You must drink it the way it is. Probably really bubble tea lovers will know that but WE didn’t know and that’s why WE ASK THE WAITRESS QUESTIONS.

The waitress replies was No! No you can’t! No you can’t. So we were a little confused because waitress never EXPLAINED why can’t we have less sweet or replace pearls with other fillings etc. While this was going on the waitress had this huge frowning sad cocky look on her face and rolled her eyes on my mother each time she asked a simple question. Very impatient and rude. Then my mother said one second please. That’s when the waitress WALKED AWAY. We’re like ah excuse me we’re looking at the menu and need your help. At this point another waitress was at our table taking over. Not sure who was our main waitress but that didn’t matter. My mother told the second waitress that we are paying customers and had a few simple questions. The first waitress didn’t have to be rude and cocky to us cause we did nothing wrong to her. Im sorry you are the server so you know the answers, my mother doesn’t and that’s why we ask.

Yi Fang partner up with DINESTY at this location so when you order drinks while dine in you receive 20% off otherwise we’ll never order bubble tea in a dumpling restaurant.

The first waitress was in a rush to clear up a big table full of dirty dishes. But there wasn’t anyone waiting for a big table or anyone in line waiting period so we don’t know why she was such in a rush. When we finished and got the bill the waitress was still around.

In the photos is the impatient, rude and sad face waitress plus our bill. We even tipped 15% after that bad experience because I know Chinese restaurants the tip is pool in and shared with all staff. We didn’t want to affect her other colleagues tip share cause we could’ve easily not tip or tip 5-10% just to let the restaurant and staff know that our waitress didn’t provide us with standard basic simple service and we were not happy.

The owner should definitely speak to all staff on how to handle different situations while serving customers rather than being rude, impatient and just walk off on customers while they’re speaking and asking questions.

Here are some photos. The bill shows ā€œLilyā€ but she was not the rude waitress. The ride and impatient waitress is the one cleaning up the dishes at the table.

Leave your sadness or frustration at home. When you come to work have some positive energy or smile. If you can at least force that fake smile if you have to because that’s part of customer service and hospitality industry. Specially when you are working on...

Dinesty Dumpling HousešŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ šŸ’ā€ā™€ļø5555 Gilbert Rd. #150, Richmond, BC

Dinesty Dumpling House really lived up to the expectations of the guests. Under the leadership of Amy, the most perfect and thoughtful service has changed my impression of the previous service failure of Dinesty Dumpling House. I personally supervised the quality of the dishes and kept every dish to perfection. The service is in place, I would like to thank Manager Amy and wish Dinesty Dumpling House a prosperous business and a lot of money šŸ˜„

The Dinesty Dumpling House Gilbert store locates close to the Fraser River and Richmond Olympic Oval. This branch of Dinesty Dumpling House combines the tranquility of the East with the romance of the West to bring you unforgettable and hearty dining experience. The world-famous Richmond Olympic Oval’s community has a natural and elegant environment that blends with the design of Dinesty Dumpling House Gilbert store. They provide customer with the Chinese delicacies, including signature soup dumplings, feature appetizers, and special main courses. Environment design innovates by natural and modern elements with a fully open floor-to-ceiling glass wall and a clean and elegant interior to provide you with a refreshing dining environment.

Xiaolongtang Bao Steamed Pork Soup Dumplings have thin skin and more fillings, and the soup is even more superb! Their Steamed Green Vegetable & Egg Dumpling is carefully made with a variety of vegetable dishes, which is very exciting! Feast on! It's delicious! We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Highly recommended!

5 months hence and decided to try this location again, and I must say, that things seems to have improved. The place was full - even on a Wednesday evening and the staff looks energized. The xiao long bao is now thinner-skinned and has the savoury soup that is a must for good XLB! The Kaofu was served warm and bursting with flavour and the noodles nicely done. Gonna up the rating to 4 stars now as I do think it has improved a lot. ……… Always had good experiences at the Dinesty in Burnaby and the old (now closed) #3 road locations, but since it was Chinese New Year day, thought best to book at this Gilbert rd location as I heard it’s bigger. And yes, it was bigger and nicer looking but not sure why the food is not as good as at their other places.Say the sesame and peanut noodle was drowned in the very bland sauce, practically like drinking peanut butter mixed with water! The tofu soup with minced beef (west lake tofu soup) was equally tasteless with hard ground beef floating about. Ouch! Same with their usually great Xiao long pao - ours had very hard skin! I mean it’s steamed dumplings, how can it be hard. The rest of our meal was ok, but those 3 items really put a damper on our appetite. But to their credit, they did NOT charge us anything for the doggie bag containers … and we really had quite a bit left over. Sorry for the pictures of the half eaten dishes - I was not going to do a review until after tasting the above disappointing dishes. I’ll probably come back again as it IS convenient to drive to and park and hopefully they will read our reviews and correct the shortcomings as some of us has outlined. Price wise, I guess it’s ok, and the service is imho a bit better than at their other locations -...
