Their rice rolls are thin and has a reasonable amount of meat in it. Amongst the three meats - shrimp, pork and beef - my favourite was the shrimp. The shrimps are on the firmer side and is mildly crunchy, so you know they use better quality shrimps. The beef and pork rice rolls are stuffed with flattened minced meat, that is mildly gamey and sticks to your teeth slightly. I'm not used to this texture and taste since the Hong Kong Dim Sum style beef rice rolls are normally very aromatic with the cilantros and dry orange peels, and the beef texture are a lot smoother (they probably add a lot more oil). I've also never had pork rice rolls before and it's my least favourite since it's on a blander side.
I also ordered the plain ones because that really puts the chef's culinary skills on a test. Their plain rice rolls are soft and a little chewy. I've never had rice rolls that's chewy so I was a little thrown off by it. I quite like the chewiness but I have definitely had softer rice rolls in Hong Kong. For every bite of the plain rice roll, I made sure it was completely drenched in soy sauce, sesame sauce and Hoison sauce. It was delicious!

Read moreIt has been a long time I crave for rice rolls and finally I found the best rice roll that I had so far.
I heard the line-up for this place is really crazy, but maybe I was lucky! I didn't need to line-up and just waited 15min for my food.
This is the first time I tried this place and their rice roll is so soft and silky. They are super generous with the amount of truffle, scallops, shrimps, and egg ($1.5 extra). Don't forget to add the sauce and chili oil to make it more tasty.
Some ppl might find it little bit pricier, but hey! better to spend more money and get better quality than not enjoying your food.
If you order the truffle one, you can add any congee with only $4.50! I chose the beef and corn one. As for the porridge, it's regular porridge, but for some reason I love it so much.
The cashier is very nice too. It took me forever to choose since this is my first time went there, but she didn't rush me at all eventho they are so busy (especially with their online order)
Anyway, this place is worth to try when you are around Richmond area, definitely I will come back when I go to Richmond.
(Tips): • Ask for chili oil! It’s a must! • You can get any rice rolls (except truffle) with any congee just for $11.99 • For the porridge, don’t order the corn one (in my opinion, it just not a good combination), so you can order either beef (with egg or preserved...

If you love rice rolls, you want to check out @heiheiriceroll inside the Richmond Public Market. They just opened recently and what makes them different is that they stone grind rice to make their own rice flour for the fresh rice rolls.
They have the expected beef, shrimp, pork, BBQ and combo flavours. Congee is offered but I didn’t try it this time. They just came out with a new flavour, black truffle rice rolls with seafood. You can certainly taste the subtle woody and nutty tones of the black truffles. There were decent amount of shrimps with the rice roll. The texture of the rice rolls were smooth, thin and a little chewy. The black truffle with seafood was delicious and my favourite.
I also tried the combo of beef, pork and shrimp rice roll. There was a reasonable amount of meats. The shrimp had a good firmness to it and felt fresh. Make sure you ask for the free add ons of bean sprouts, corn and scallions to give some extra flavours to the rice roll. Also, ask for their chilli oil sauce!
@heiheiriceroll is open everyday from 11am to 3pm except Tuesdays. They have a sign indicating the estimated wait time. I was there at noon and the wait time was 50 minutes but I came back in 30 minutes and it was ready for pickup. You can also call them to preorder too.
I really like the black truffle rice roll and I would come back...
