a BBQ Place…
In the Asian culture, BBQ meats play a big role especially during special holidays and occasions; use often for praying and offering before become yummy to the tummy.
This place has been the few BBQ places I frequent quite a bit over the last decade and probably one of the top 5 Chinese BBQ places in the greater Vancouver area according to some. There is always a lineup here from opening till closing and insanely crazy during special Chinese holidays.
The exceptional quality here comes with a little higher price tag. The skillful cutting of the meat and presentation does show quality and wouldn’t be an embarrassment to your guests.
I think all the whole suckling piglets, BBQ ducks and free range soy chickens I ordered here over the years are enough for me to start 2-3 farms myself.
Here were the BBQ I ordered last time;
One whole BBQ squid. Fresh and tender, not my thing but relatives liked it. Free range soy chicken. Nicely done, like it when eating it with ginger and green onion sauce. (Paid extra for more ginger and onion sauce but never got them lol) Roast pork (3 bones). I always preferred with the actual bones because I always find meat more tasty when bone in (my mom always think I am crazy paying for bones lol)
This place is located inside Parker Place Center, quite compact and the lineup gets pretty long during peak hours (don’t try to cut in line, you’ll get a mouthful from the aunties lol).
The service is pretty basic like most BBQ take out places so don’t expect a hug and kiss from anyone. Just go hug and kiss your meat!
The food here is okay. I tried ordering a whole suckling piglet the same day but to no avail, therefore, always order such items in advance. I just have to settle with what they have. Like I said, the price here is a bit higher than your average BBQ place, about $140 for what I ordered this...
Read moreGreat flavours, pretty consistent. Better than many bbq places in this area, including HK bbq master.
I was quite surprised to read some of the reviews here about the dishonesty. My family has been coming here for the last two decades and the same guys have been butchering here. The service has always been consistent.
Never had any issues with incorrect weight or additions of bones to “tip the scale”.
If you ask for specific fat/lean meats they will do their best to suss out what’s available in the short few seconds. And if you’re asking for a roasted pork and want the ribs… you’re going to get some bones. You can literally watch them do it in front of you.
Also, I’m quite happy for them to re-dip the bbq pork back into the sauce and I’m fine paying for it. It’s delicious and the kids love the extra sauce on their rice.
To each their own - we think it’s...
Read moreThe BBQ meat on rice prices were reasonable compared to other places and the roast pork skin looked deliciously crispy, so we lined up to get some - our first time here. We put in our orders (using some known Cantonese) no problem. When we got to the cashier, I noticed some prepared jellyfish and asked how they sold it and size of containers - well, the lady was so condescending and rude just because I didn’t know how it was done there or because I wasn’t fluent in her language! When she packed our orders, she got the outside of the bag dirty, and wouldn’t wipe the sauce off when I asked her to, but said she’d put napkins in the bag! You just lost future business, lady! The meat, though, was good, not great and, unfortunately, not consistent. One container got all its pork with crispy skin, but the...
