Came to Canada for the Richmond night market over the weekend. On our way home and decided to look for a spot to have lunch.

Pulled over to the side while searching for a spot to eat and we found The Jade Seafood Restaurant right around the corner. I can go for some dim sum.

First time having Dim Sum outside of the states and man it’s super different in my opinion. The location, the parking, the access all has some similarities to what you would expect back at home but once you are ready to order, it’s a whole new world of confusion, maybe it’s because I don’t understand the custom or lack there of.

So the menu is giving to you and you would have to pick and order from said menu and they would bring out your order. No carts being pushed around like my local Dim Sum spot does. Which I found odd but again maybe this is their way of serving and or custom.

The food choices are there and loads of it but it’s not the same as how I’m accustomed too. Its names are different which confused us and I would have to constantly ask the server what is what.

For instance, SHUMAI is called something else. I can’t remember the name off the top of my head. We ordered 5 trays of it and countless other plates from House special fried rice to house special chow mein ect.

The server was surprised of how much we ordered on a particular dish. Shumai comes with 4 pieces a baskets and we got 5 baskets lol she wanted to reiterate what we ordered and said that might be a lot of food! Mind you there are 20 of us. The fried rice from my understanding of what the server told me was a small plate. We got two of them and when it came out, the plates were massive.

Food came out and it’s what is expected. It’s Delicious but I do have two small complaints. Again not sure if it’s custom but we didn’t get our glasses of water until half the meal was finished. I’m sorry, I thought it would come before hand but I had to ask for it and then there was no chili oil the pair with the soy sauce that they brought out with the meal for which I also had to ask for..

We had our little inside joke of when the servers would have to constantly come over to our table to grab the empty plates and basket, Nothing bad or disrespectful but I think we really put them to work. Thank You staff. We appreciate it.

Other than that the food is exceptionally great and the service at times was a little bit of a head scratcher but it came around once they saw how much food intake we took from all that we ordered. LOL

Great food, great people, and in the end it became a great service and an enjoyable experience. Check them out if you are in Richmond, Canada. It’s a few blocks away from The...

Not too long ago, The Jade Seafood Restaurant re-opened in their new digs on No. 3 Road so we decided to pay them a visit when we had a hankering for some dim sum during the Thanksgiving long weekend.

While it’s been a good 6 years since we last visited Jade Seafood, the thing that stood out from my memory was it being super busy with cramped dining quarters. Sure enough, it was quite busy on our visit at 10am (they open at 9am). The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor and they really don’t have a large waiting area so the lineup often snakes down the staircase.

In terms of service, we had to wait about 35 minutes to be seated (best to make reservations ahead of time) and then we had to flag a person for a menu after the first person we asked forgot to come back with one. I suppose part of that is due to how busy they get here. After ordering, we waited another 20+ minutes for the food to arrive. It seemed like they were making all of the dim sum items for one table before they moved on to the next table.

The first dish to arrive (no surprise) was the dessert of Longan and Lychee Pudding ($4.99). I was hoping for this to be better but it was just meh. I wasn’t a fan of all of the tiny bits and pieces ā€œfloatingā€ about the gelatin as it got stuck in my teeth and it lacked flavour from the longan and lychee.

After our dessert arrived, the rest of our dishes started to come out – including the Chinese Donut Rice Roll ($7.99). This was a good version with a crisp Chinese donut encased in a velvety rice roll mixed with green onions.

The best dish of the day was the Steamed Phoenix Claws ($6.99) aka chicken feet. Superbly melt-in-your-mouth tender is the best description that I can come up for this dish.

In addition to the dim sum dishes, we also ordered the Shredded Chicken Salad ($11.99) which we thought was a bit off in the flavour. This dish isn’t included in the 20% discount and probably wasn’t worth what we paid for.

Another dish that was a disappointment was the Xiao Long Bao ($5.99). As is typical with restaurants that don’t specialize in Shanghainese food, these dumplings were unremarkable. At least one dumpling was broken and the others were so lacking in soup that they I wouldn’t even consider calling them ā€œsoupy dumplingsā€.

Finally, our last dish of Steamed Beef Balls ($6.99), while small in size, were actually very good. I loved the light and bouncy texture of the beef balls.

Nice new digs but it’s overly busy here and dishes are very...

This place mainly caters to regular customers, yet still made it into Vancouver's Top 15 Chinese Restaurants! I came to try it this time and the food was truly amazing! Highly recommended!

🌟 Traditional Claypot Salt-Baked Longgang Chicken 🌟 Their sticky rice Longgang chicken requires advance reservation, so I went for the salt-baked version instead. Longgang chicken seems to be their signature dish, and it was absolutely delicious! The salt-baked flavor really penetrates the meat, the skin is crispy and the meat is tender—even the chicken breast wasn't dry at all. It felt like all the moisture was locked in. Half a chicken was enough for five people. It came out last, but it was everyone’s favorite at the table šŸ˜

🌟 Claypot Pearl Sticky Rice Lobster 🌟 Lobster meat was plump and springy since it’s in season. Lightly battered, fried, and then braised. I honestly think the sticky rice underneath is the best I’ve had in Vancouver 🄹 It was packed with toppings—salted egg yolk and Chinese sausage added richness. The rice was neither sticky nor hard, just perfect. The portion was huge—we packed it up and had it for two more days, haha.

🌟 Scallops Stir-Fried with Shrimp Paste and Two Kinds of Cauliflower 🌟 You could smell the shrimp paste, but the taste wasn’t overpowering. Generous portion of scallops—probably more than 20 pieces. Both the broccoli and cauliflower were crisp and fresh. This was the first dish to be finished.

🌟 Double-Boiled Soup in Individual Clay Pots 🌟 The first thing served—individual pots of double-boiled pork and cordyceps soup. Very fresh and appetizing.

🌟 Sweet and Sour Pork with Fresh Pineapple 🌟 I personally don’t like sweet and sour pork, but my dining companions thought it was tasty.

🌟 Stir-Fried Eight Treasures with Vermicelli (Vegetarian) 🌟 A huge portion with lots of ingredients—cabbage, enoki mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, rice noodles, etc. I found it just okay. The wok hei (wok aroma) was a bit too strong for a veggie dish.

🌟 Red Bean Soup 🌟 Osmanthus Jelly One hot, one cold—both desserts were delightful. Just the right amount of sweetness.

Overall, I really liked this place and I’m definitely coming back to try...

Absolutely delicious cantonese food, so much flavour!! The peking duck was phenomenal as always and unlike another restaurant they include the skin. The soup was delicious and unique and its interesting how they served the additional pork that was used in the soup which tasted bland on its own but a nice addition, so they took it away after i only tried one and no one else did. The chicken dick was amazing, the lettuce wrap flawless, fried rice very authentic, so much better than the yellow fried rice in america, the pineapple chicken was tasty, but the beef and eggplant could have been better because the beef was very chewy and not cooked enough; still red on the inside and the eggplant was not soft enough and i personally prefer it to be cooked longer. More spices is needed for the dish. I wish the tofu was soft tofu instead of medium because it would be easier to eat, and i wasnt a fan of the fried oysters because they had a very weird texture and the oyster itself i was struggling to find the meet as there was very little. Everything else tasted like fat. Even though not every dish exceeded my expecrations and could have been tastier the other ones made me so happy because of how good they were and made this special occasion worth it. Taste wise 4.5 stars so 5. Service had very quiet people, they just casually put your food on your table but they speak english and i saw many of the dishes being prepared and cooked in front of us on a pan which was very nice and they took extra care to give room and were professional, cleaning properly and picking up everything that fell onto the floor. Chinese service differs from american service so this quietness is exactly what i expected. Will definitely come here again.

LOL Great food, great people, and in the end it became a great service and an enjoyable experience. Check them out if you are in Richmond, Canada. It’s a few blocks away from The River Rock casino

Nice new digs but it’s overly busy here and dishes are very hit-and-miss.
