as with any food court stall in richmond, the price is absolutely amazing for how much food we got — it’s especially true of this place , everything was ENORMOUSSS and so filling. every single dish was packed with so much flavour and you can tell that a lot of care went into its preparation.
my favourite thing we ordered was 100% the chinese pork burger. the meat was salty and LOADED UP. the dough wrapping was thick and soft , almost like a warm pocket of meat with a slightly crispy exterior. the pork was neither lean or dry — the bits of fatty literally MELTED in your mouth, as well as onto the bun, moistening it with its sauce and creating the most indulgent and satisfying experience.
the pan fried bun was huge, and not as juicy as other places but the soupy taste was still prominent. the dough on the outside was soft and fluffy, and didn’t really have the crispy “pan-fried” texture — not that this was a problem; i feel like it was more of a comfort dish rather than BAM IMPACT HEAVY FLAVOUR kind of dish.
the beef rolls were also great, i really loved the perfectly sweet sauce inside, but i think the ratio of cucumber to beef was a bit off — i would’ve liked a bit more beef and i could really only taste the cucumber and sauce. if you do go, dip EVERYTHING in the chili oil — the taste is not prominent but it elevates every dish’s flavour...
Read moreHave you ever had noddles served in a plastic bag from a street food vendor in China? Well, this comes pretty close to the taste. You will make your order with a Chinese gentleman, who will offer you hot tea as you wait for your order. He will ring a bell and call your order out in a sweet melodic flow to alert you once your food is ready. He will look out into the distance like a chinese father looking for their son until you pick up your food. I got #9 with extra spicy - fried hand sliced noodles with lamb for $13. Great noddle texture, hand sliced perfection and great distribution of lamb for every bite to be a explosion of flavour. Condiments of extra chilli or vinegar on the side. Great value for authentic flavour from this family owned shop. You are going to get alot of noddles, so you may have enough noddles for...
Read moreXi An is famous for their noodle with lamb / beef in soup, so obviously, I have to try their signature dish. The smell was fragrant and the appearance looked nice with their porcelain bowl. Made me feel like I was eating an authentic bowl of noodles on the side of the street. I went for the lamb meat first, and boy, was that lamb as fat as me. The bite of lamb was half meat half fat, which was kind of nice and unexpected. Usually the lamb I get in noodles are just meat. The lamb tasted like...boiled lamb. Nothing too special like others have said. Their noodles had a nice bite texture and firmness to it. The soup broth was quite oily and it distracted me from the flavours. It was a typical oily clear Chinese broth. Overall, it's a nice bowl of hearty noodles. Personally, I would prefer the broth to be less oily and...
