Big D's Poutine — Restaurant in Rothesay

I do not recommend the hotdogs or potato salad. Their other stuff might be good, I'm only rating them based on my order. The hotdogs are below average, althought they are cooked on a flat top, they are not cooking, they are just kind of being warning up, same with the bun, it's warmed up but more chewy them toasty. The grilled onions are also caramelized on the flat top but they are tasteless, no seasoning of any kind. The sauerkraut is bland and offer no vinegar or acidity either, just wet cabbage. They finish the hotdogs with your condiments on top but hotdog sticks outside the bun so when they roll it the wrapper, all your sauces stay with the paper when you unroll. As for as the potato sale goes, it's a crime against spuds!! it was liquid mash potatoes at best and again, completely tasteless, no seasoning, you can see tons of herbs but cannot taste any of it, so weird. No amount of salt and pepper with resuscitation this porridge. I don't know if it's a lack of quality control with someone new making the recipe or if they are allergic to taste and texture but the plastic fork tasted better. I really hope they just had a bad week or something because we need more food options around here but my first time there doesn't make me want to go back...

Are you kidding me? Unbelievable food! Just finished our banquet smash burgers and poutine. Let me first wax poetic about the burgers. First, let's talk about the bun that wasn't soggy and had dark and light sesame seeds and was totally wonderful in it's own right. Then, the freshest of fixins top this absolutely amazing smash patty that was perfect. If there was seasonings on it, it was perfect. If there wasn't...it didn't need it! Great beef. Seriously, a wonderful burger. Way better than anything I've had lately, eat in or take out. And OMG they deliver great value! Quality was top drawer and the burger (a single) didn't leave you wanting. Now to the poutine. I gotta say that I see poutine as an indulgence and don't have it often. Perfect gravy. Perfect fries. Excellent cheese, melted to perfection (am I using the term perfect too much? Probably). I had the buffalo chicken poutine with hot sauce soaked chicken pieces and my partner had the mac and cheese poutine with nacho sauce and deep fried mac and cheese bites. I almost fought him for it but the buffalo chicken was so good!. Can't wait to order here again. The website was great for ordering before...

I really really want to give higher marks, but realistically it's very hard to recommend if not just because of the crazy high prices.

Upsides: Pretty great variety of burger options that legitimately taste very good Generous poutine portions Lots of gluten free stuff Doesn't take too long for orders to be made

Downsides: The cost is exceptionally high. The food was good, but not $32 and change for a single burger + coleslaw good. Similarly, the poutine is very good - but not nearly good enough to justify the price. It costs more to eat at this fast casual burger joint than it does to sit at a fine-in family restaurant like east side Mario's, which makes it impossible for me to recommend without adding "It's gonna be really expensive though" in the same breath.

Also it's a little difficult to accept them microwaving food items at prices like this.

Also best of luck getting a milkshake, we've tried now 3 times over the span of a couple of months and each time they tell us they're out of the ingredients...
