Bird Of Paradise Pub — Restaurant in Saanich

How this place continues to stay open is beyond me. My wife and I went in for some drinks, sat at our table and was astonished by how sticky our table was! The staff was was very busy so we moved to another table that was LESS sticky. We sat and had our drinks and some of the "regulars" were so loud and obnoxious (One guy in particular) we could not have a conversation, this guy was in our opinion over served, I hope they called a cab for the gentleman....... The bathrooms were filthy, the stench from the urinals was OVER POWERING! there was graffiti all over the walls, the towel machine was broken so they placed a role of paper towels on the sink counter which was wet by the from the sinks, which were themselves dirty....... Very "Train spotting" Thank God we did not order food if the place, if the pub/restaurant was that dirty we could not imagine the state of the kitchen After one drink we left and decided to buy a bottle of wine from the off sales down stairs, There was NOTHING in stock! the shelves were almost empty, the perfect end to a magical...

Horrible in every single way possible, never go there.

Rudely greeted in the morning by the manager who stated "we don't open until 11 am" to which I promptly replied "its 10:56". She then locked the door and left us outside in the cold.

Tried using my groupon on the last day but apparently they were booked up, was told the manager said I could use it next week which turned out to be a lie. Ended up just sacrificing the value of the groupon and leaving.

Questionable cleanliness and downright horrible staff. Waiter wouldn't listen and tried cutting me off, manager was horribly rude and slightly vicious and well stupid in the literal sense.

In addition, the brunch menu has a whopping 6 items on it and doesn't even have beverages listed. None of the brunch items are even normal items you may find on other menus, and not in a good way.

It's my recommendation to never go there for brunch and probably not for any other type of meal. It will be nothing more than a frustrating and unsatisfying experience.

Four of us attended a meal there for the first time. Not a pleasant experience. My iced tea was weak and was replaced with one the same. Fries with 3 of our entrees were hard and my chicken fingers were dry and hard as well. Server said they should never have left the kitchen - so why did they?
