Fresh Tandoori Flavour, Indian Restaurant - Royal Oak, Victoria — Restaurant in Saanich

Part 2 of my review: Guys read how this restaurant owner is dodging the bullet by calling my review fake. I don't even live in Victoria to care about writing a fake review on a restaurant. I was visiting on official business and was on my way back to Swartz Bay when I decided to stop and eat lunch as it was on the way on the highway. I believe in ethics and believe in merit. And on merit, this place failed miserably. The lack of professionalism of the owner is clear in the response to my review and rating by calling it fake. Stop being defensive owner and accept feedback even if it is unfavourable. And for the record, I did not finish the food. I still paid in full though with no courtesy from the restaurant to compensate for my bad experience. This place is garbage and the response to my review further reinforces the low character and ethics of those who run it.

Part 1: Too bad there is no option to give negative star rating. Horrible food, Horrible service, Horrible attitude of servers, and trust me I have very very reasonable expectations of service and rarely ever consider giving bad ratings. If I can save even one person from wasting their time & money, then my purpose is served. Ordered the Malai chicken tikka starter and Chicken tikka masala (recommended by the waitress) as opposed to Butter chicken, with naan. Chicken pieces were rubbery and ill-tasting. I took one bite and left it. Contrary to their business name that has "Fresh" in it. Asked for some lemon and green chilli on the side earlier, but only to get a lame response "sorry we don't give that". Like I had asked for a fortune. Not once, the 3 waitresses around had the decency to check on how my experience was going. They were more interested in socializing in Punjabi. Another patron dining in on another table, indulging in their buffet, picked up his dirty plates and took it to the front counter because not one of the waitresses bothered to clear them as the patron took new plates to get more food as per the Restaurant's direction. I am not sure how this restaurant is still in business. A total disgrace to the service industry and giving a bad name to the Indian cuisine. Learn from my hard lesson folks and STAY AWAY! YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!! Hope sharing that I know my Indian food very well because I grew up eating it, should add to my credibility. I wouldn't even eat here if they offered me free food for life. Gave this place a second chance because my regular place was temporarily closed. Even worse experience than the first time! The chicken in the curry chicken was so tough it was a jaw workout! And again medium had no spice and the sauce was very watery, I actually threw the rest in the garbage! Waste of money. This time the fish pakora was much more breading than fish so even that was a fail. The veggie samosa had no flavor and the chutney is awful. Definitely never going back. I don't know how this place has such high ratings, they must have bots leaving good reviews. From 2 stars to 0. Disappointing is an understatement. The butter chicken sauce was average and medium spice has so little heat you could happily rub it in your eyes. 17.50 for the tiny takeout portion... I know Oak Bay is a rich area but that's robbery! Probably the worst naan I've had anywhere, it was only half cooked and again tiny portions at an inflated price. The bhindi was ok but zero spice again. Delightful Dining Experience A True Taste of India in Victoria!

I had an incredible dining experience at this Indian restaurant. The food was absolutely exceptional — every dish we ordered was bursting with authentic Indian flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and was beautifully presented. Generous portion sizes and great value for money only added to the experience. Special praise for the Kadai Paneer, Bhindi and Garlic Naan — each one was rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates true Indian cuisine.

A heartfelt thank you to our Server KAMAL for her warm hospitality. Her attentiveness, soft-spoken nature and thoughtful service truly enhanced our dining experience. She ensured every detail was just right and made us feel genuinely welcomed.

We came all the way from Ottawa and this place has now become our go-to spot in Victoria. With superb service and authentic flavors, this restaurant easily deserves beyond 5 stars.
