I remember going place-to-place on errands with dad since I was a child. Then, I would wait in the car while dad was inside getting a part, or something important, to further the work being done. Between stops there would be no-prisoners preaching. Now, when I return for a visit from overseas, I drive rather than him. The preacher has faded, sadly. Aging is a cruel thing we all must face.
This visit to Timmy's was after 2 other errands: 1 to Lordco's for a part that was no-show, the other was to the Chrysler dealer for a $9 part to fix a brake failure. Sometimes, we are lucky to survive stupid cheap little parts that fail... Small coffee and donut, then sit by the extinct fireplace where about 50 blue-assed flies patrol in rectangular patterns. A bit gross to have so many flies ignored by managers of a donut shop. Salmon Arm culture? You'd think they'd take a hint after all my flailing and swatting to create a no-fly zone. No such luck. Kill-rate 90% 😎(inherited from my grandfather-mother)... Over by the door an intense looking young man with a pretty but petrified girl sitting opposite who is darting glances - which he follows immediately with a mean-looking over-the-shoulder glance. I notice things, sense things; wondered between just seeing timeless inadequacies of youth, or a kidnapping. A very dirty man suffering from liquid intemperance keeps moving chair-to-chair, besmirching many yet never finding the right one, though pausing long enough to swig a slug of alcohols antidote. His stench explains the large fly squadron, and worked to suppress savoring of my sweet something.
Through it all, dad and I had our fleeting moment together - which, sometimes, is what enduring Timmys is all about.
5 stars for being with dad... 2 stars for fly-infested Timmy's and it's...

Read moreThis store needs an overhaul of staff training and adherence to food safe rules! I witnessed a customer getting a Ryan's scrambled egg box. She took it to table, opened it, came back to counter, wrong order. Employee took box back to kitchen area, spoke to cook, then asked customer if she touched food. Customer said no. Employee closed lid, gave customer new order. Employee then told by cook to take the returned order to drive thru window and give to customer at window. Talk about cross contamination!!! Employees are supposed to be food safe trained and practice safe food handling which is not always done when one watches closely. However, customers hygiene habits are unknown, so a container is contaminated by handling and the same container is passed on to another customer! This location continues to be a joke!
