The upgraded and updated “reopened” Tangs China House did not disappoint.

I ate there regularly in the 1980s and by the clientele at Tangs tonight, all were customers from the 70s and 80s wanting to come back and experience the joy of eating at a great Sarnia Chinese restaurant. It did not disappoint.

Felt like old times with an updated flair in both the decor and the wonderful food presented. A well balanced menu offering regular Chinese flair as well as new dishes. Sarnia surely needed this and coming back to this restaurant certainly won’t be our last.

We ordered wonton soup, fried wontons for an appetizer followed by Singapore Rice Noodles, Chicken Almond Soo Guy and Beef with Broccoli and Mushrooms. Everything was prepared and presented to perfection. The soup was flavourful, the Singapore noodles had some heat and was delicious. The Chicken Almond Soo Guy was the best we have ever had. The chicken tender, the coating crispy. The Beef Broccoli Mushrooms was excellent. Tender beef, fresh broccoli, plenty of mushrooms and a lovely sauce. The portions were plentiful and we had enough to take home for a second meal (which was our plan).

Our server thought we had already been looked after so didn’t attend to our table until we finally motioned to him. It was sorted out and service was fine from that point on. He was friendly and attentive.

We met the new owner, Lillian (daughter of the original owners). She is lovely, bubbly and attentive. A great addition to the Sarnia community. Her brother, Steven, is the chef and manages the kitchen. Between Lillian and Steven, I am sure that the dining experience at Tangs will return to its former glory to when their parents began their venture in the 70s. Welcome...

It's with a heavy heart that I update this review, and I will leave my review from 6 years ago below. Unfortunately, this will be the last time I have Tangs. Much has been changed on the menu and not for the better. The Singapore noodles had shrimp in the dish that weren't deveined, and for a dish that costs 19.00, the very least that should be done is that. The chicken balls are extremely thick with breading now, and while there is still a good amount of chicken instead they are now way too heavy of a dish. They also changed their red sauce, and its not reminiscist of any other red sauce I've ever had. It was barely warm and lacked the flavorful punch of the old red sauce. Even though most people won't care about this one, the chili sauce was also changed, which was super dissappinting for me because it was probably the highlight of when I used to order food here. The other food was decent, but I can't justify the cost vs. taste here. It was a good run Tangs!

Directly in the Sarnia city limits, this is the best Chinese food you can get. The owners and workers there are very nice people and the food is always ready when they give you a pickup time. The decor is a bit outdated inside but on the other hand it gives the place a nice charm. The buffet is pretty decent, and they will restock anything that gets low. Lots of variety on the menu, and everything tastes...

So we have ordered front Tangs before and it was not that great. In fact, when we want Chinese food 🍱 we go out of town for it. Well, not anymore. It is under new ownership and is getting a complete overhaul. Their food 🍲 is awesome‼️. We ordered the chicken balls which were some of the tastiest I’ve had in a long time. The egg rolls that were cooked just perfect 👍🏻 and the filling was not dry or chewy like most egg rolls. We ordered the sweet-and-sour sauce with the rice and chicken, which were also very fresh, the black peppered beef, which, in my opinion, has been the tastiest black peppered beef I’ve ever tasted, not overpowered with pepper or spices. All the food that was ordered was fresh and very tasty. I’m sooooo excited 😆 that when I get a crav for Chinese I can now order from Tangs instead of driving out of town. I will be definitely going to dine in as soon as the renovations are done, as for the food very well done thank you for a...

First time back to Tang's in a long while. The renovations are fantastic! Wow, long gone is the darkness...making way to a beauty new bar, fresh decor (thank you for keeping the Phoenix and Dragon!), love music for First Friday downtown, intriguing artwork and clean everything. The washroom have had a makeover too! There is an accessible washroom on the main floor for those that dislike the stairs! Food was delicious, hot and our server, Karen, was knowledgeable and full of great suggestions towards our wonderful meal. Excellent menu! Thank you for a great experience! See you again soon, highly recommend!
