We went here in a large group of people. About 25 of us, we notified them a couple weeks in advance. We were eating there before an event and we had to be there at a certain time. We arrived two and a half hours ahead so we had plenty of time to eat, pay and make our way there. (Our event was about a five minute walk away) There was only 1 waitress serving all 25 of us. And she took about 20 minutes taking our orders. And getting our drinks. She gradually brings them out. When she’s done with our drinks she disappears for an hr and a half. We have no idea where the waitress is and no one comes to check on us or refill our drinks. Since we gave weeks of notice you would expect to have more than one singular waitress serving a group of 25 people. Since the food took so long to be served most people’s drinks were gone within a half hour, but never got refilled. She finally comes back 30 minutes before we have to leave with some of the food. She doesn’t know who’s is who’s so she’s just calling out orders. Food then gets mixed up etc… Some food gets here long before others. Some people were even finished their food before other food came out the kitchen. We have to eat as quick as we can so we can start paying. Some people were finished eating before others got their food, and any extra things people needed from the waitress never got done. Almost every meal comes with beans and rice, but the beans looked felt and tasted like they just microwaved some canned black beans and threw it on the plates. Disgusting. The rice was also dry and stale. If the rice and beans come with every meal, I can’t imagine how long the batches sit out for. As for the rest of the food, it was lukewarm like it sat out for a long time, which doesn’t make sense since the food took at least an hour to be served. Even the room we were sat in was obviously put together last minute, it was not an actual dining room. To separate the group from the empty hallway we were sat beside, they put up sheets as makeshift walls. We were late to leave the restaurant since everyone’s food took forever, the (again) singular server prints every single persons receipt off and continues to mix them all up and take an even longer time to find who ordered what. No one could find their order and we even had to help sort them out. And on top of it all the waitress charged every meal a 18% gratuity tip. Which where not notified about when we booked or when she put it on the bill. She just turned the machine around with the total. Since we where in such a rush I just tapped the card before I realized how much the bill was. There was no opportunity to change this tip. My bill was 45 dollars. A quesadilla ( side item ) a large fry, and a drink. I wouldn’t have been so neglectful to give a tip if she would’ve refilled my...
Read moreThis place is a Saskatoon Institution. Been serving up cold beers and hot food for something like 35 years? Great love music, check their website for what bands are playing each weekend and some week nights. Usually they have a small cover charge after 8 or so when there’s a band playing. Food is great, chilli is awesome, burritos and chimichangas are super, carnitas pueblo, anything with the mole sauce… it’s all good. Like I don’t know if I have ever eaten a meal there which was bad, in almost 20 years? That’s decent. Kids and minors under 19 allowed until 8 pm, which is also nice. Its not a “kid friendly” restaurant like with crayons and a play area, but It’s a chill vibe, and suitable for taking kids early on, if they are experienced with adult restaurants and know how to / are ABLE to sit still at a table for an hour or more. Late at night, it’s crowded and rockin. Lots of fun. Everything they do, they do well. Just don’t take bottles and glasses outside or bother the neighbourhood. They are right in a mixed residential / commercial zone. Also nice that they specifically have a sign up to say everyone of any gender/ sexual orientation/ ethnicity etc is welcome and wanted, and hate or abuse isn’t tolerated. During the day and early evening, it’s a mellow place for good food and visiting. Late, it’s great music, dancing, and party, but as I said- whatever they do at Amigos, they do it well. Bbq chicken burger is my fav. With a pint…No taco salad with grilled chicken and a margarita…No , the carnitas… bison burger… the new hot dog… shrimp tacos… the hardest thing is deciding which delicious...
Read moreRant: Had a one ounce margarita that was okay, in a small dirty glass…. And some underwhelming service. It reminded me of church! Everyone put their lips on the cup and barely sip the blood of Christ. Before I could wet my beak it was over like a bad date.
There was a sound check at supper time… so I couldn’t hear myself think and I didn’t stay for food.
Quite possibly the most annoying sound check I’ve ever heard. Maybe they should lock the doors during soundcheck. The patio reminds me of jail (not that I’ve been) but it’s purgatory.
Pro-Tip; don’t put Caesars or Margarita in a honey I shrunk the kid glass. That bar tender has been there since I was 21… maybe it was good when I was 21.
Holy smokes…. Not the flashback and not the Amigos I hoped it would be :. Passion for food and drink is gone. Saskatoon has way too many other options and honestly I would rather see an live show were I can drink, where it’s clean.
Service, aesthetic, portions and price are all off! How grossly expensive, and they are in desperate need of a Reno. This place needs a bar rescue :/.. So you can have my $10.75 but you don’t get my tip for ice… give me a glass and butter me up. I work hard for my money and I’m happy to pay $10.75 for the right place, person, product and service.
My advice: clean it up, hire bomb servers and bar keeps, renovations, check the ambience and atmosphere. Review your prices! Be competitive and don’t be stingy with the pour. If you want your servers to make money, raise the bar ! Shieeet man....
