Terrible experience from beginning to end. Their QR menu is really hard to use, we had to open it many times. The waitress was EXTREMELY rude since we got there. I asked if a replacement was possible and got a pout and a rude response. She also pouted when it took us more than two minutes to decide what to drink. Guess Canadians are not that friendly anymore. They have this big red letters ad in the top of the Anytime menu advising that all dishes include a side dish. Too bad if you can’t see the little asterisk in two of the five dishes they have, because it means that the side only applies on this dishes and each side costs $5 CAD (yes, 5 dollars for a small cup of soup that I wouldn’t have ordered if the menu would have clearly stated sides were not included in every dish). If two out of three people make the same mistake it means that something is wrong with your menu and not with us as the waitress implied (yes, we are not from Saskatoon or Canada but we are not stupid). The 14 CAD aperol spritz didn’t have soda. My friend ordered mussels and no one in the restaurant thought it was important to clean the table and take the sells away before desserts. No one offered dessert and we had to leave the table and order them in the counter (good cakes though). And when we had trouble with the machine and our cards (because of course they don’t take american express and why to bother in letting you know so beforehand or somewhere in the menu) and took us some more time to pay the waitress was really annoyed. She couldn’t even made an effort to not roll her eyes. The food was average and expensive. Over rated and over priced place with terrible and rude service. Here you can see the mess we had in our table. Of course we just tipped 10% because where I come from, tip comes along with a good service and attention. You need to earn it.

Gem of Saskatoon This was one of two restaurants that I had to visit during my brief visit to Saskatoon and it did not disappoint. Drink Chai latte - Just the right amount of foam - Cinnamon was the perfect addition Food Tomato Chickpea Soup served with Wild Rice Bread - Soup was warm and hearty, the perfect antidote to the cold winter weather - Tasted like something I would make fun scratch - pleasant tomato flavour - present but not overwhelming - Not too salty - Bread was fresh, has a nice crust, soft California Club Sandwich - Bread and ingredients fresh - Ingredients complimented eachother - The jalapeno lime mayo was unexpected but best surprise Fries - Thin cut - Potato skins left on - Well salted - House made ketchup - delicious - Heinz who? Rum and Raisin Cheesecake One word: delicious Service 5/5 - Staff worked as a team - Served by multiple team members but one member main person for our table - Everyone was warm, helpful, personable, attentive, checked in several times to make sure everything was to our liking In conclusion, this place is an absolute gem. There's no wonder it's been around for so long. This would definitely be a favourite if I lived in Saskatoon. A few minor things would have made my experience near perfect. Swap the deli turkey for real turkey breast, maybe swap the avocado for some kind of cheese. The fries were served warm which tells me they were out of the fryer for awhile before they made it on my plate and to my table. In the process, they lost some of their crispiness. To be enjoyed at their maximum, fries need to be served hot. Every second out of the fryer counts. Neither of these things were deal-breakers. They just might have made a great experience and excellent one. #supportlocal

10/10 Experience. Our server (Danielle) was very friendly and hospitable. She had a beautiful energy, was funny and genuine. You can tell management really cares about having staff who possess genuine kind energy that make customers feel welcome. I ordered the California Club with a side of fries and my Mom had the Roasted Chicken Sandwich with one of the soups of the day (I forgot the name). Both sandwiches were absolutely delicious! All the veggies and meat tasted very fresh and clean. Even in the taste of the meal you get that “locally sourced vibe” in the best way. My Mom and I aren’t typically fans of sourdough but we both enjoyed the bread of the Roasted Chicken Sandwich (which was sourdough). The sourdough bread was thick and moist so it just melted in your mouth wonderfully. I ordered my sandwich on a baguette that was very hard and crunchy so it was a bit messy but it was well made bread too. We both really enjoyed the fries as well and I believe it was an aioli that was provided with the fries that was creamy and rich in flavour - just so good! For Desert we ordered the Saskatoon Berry Lemon Cheesecake and WOW it was AMAZING! My Mom and I absolutely loved it! The crust was moist and sweet, the cheesecake layer was perfectly balanced not too rich but still very flavourful, the lemon was sweet not tangy and complemented the cheesecake perfectly, the whipped cream top was creamy but light. Seriously the best desert I’ve ordered from a restaurant in a LONG time! Lastly the Saskatoon berry lemonade was also very good and refreshing on a hot day.

had been here before and while the food had been ok the service was poor however yesterday my 2 cousins had wanted to go for lunch and i had thought that maybe it had improved, it had not. i will say the staff was nice and there wasn't much of a wait, my cousins also enjoyed their shirley temples but that's about where the positives end. first, i had ordered a saskatoon berry lemonade which tasted nothing like the name and was little more than coloured tonic water. then there was the food, there were 3 of us and none of us particularly enjoyed our meals, maybe our first mistake was going somewhere that served so many eggs when 2/3 of us hate eggs, leaving us with very limited options. my one cousin got the kids plate and i have never seen such a strange assortment of food, it looked like something i would have made for my mom when i was child where she would have pretended to take a couple bites and then promptly thrown out. the bread was tough, the cookie was like a rock, the ham was stuffed with shredded carrots for some strange reason, there were loose dark chocolate chips, the least liked chocolate among kids; it all seemed like an attempt at an aesthetic charcuterie board that completely missed the mark on both taste and the target audience, it is to say my cousin didn't eat much and ended up needing to get something more somewhere else. then there was my other cousin who ordered eggs benedict where the eggs were good but the rest wasn't, the bread tasted gross and was hard, as well the potatoes were cut too big so they were cooked on the outside but raw on the inside. lastly i had ordered the seasonal pasta which tasted like almost nothing except the overwhelming amount of mushrooms (i hadn't realized it was possible to make the taste of mushroom that strong), usually pasta is a pretty safe choice when ordering food but i couldn't even finish because the flavour was so bad to me. we had originally planned to order dessert but we were so embarrassed at the idea of being unable to finish our food but buying dessert and scared that we may end up spending more on something that would end up being just as bad. i do apologize if our server sees this, she was very nice and polite however none of us could stomach the food, i am so sorry i do feel bad about how it may have looked when the 3 of barely ate any...

COULDN'T BE WORSE!!! RUDE RUDE RUDE. Do not eat here. We went to Calories for a nice Sunday brunch. Our server was kind but told us many of the menu items were not available. By the time we decided on food, the server told us several of THOSE options were out too.... When our food came, bacon was missing from a club sandwich as well as eggs benedict. When we asked what happened, they told us they were out of bacon (didn't tell us before we ordered or when they dropped off the food). At this point we were getting tired of nothing being available or right and just wanted to eat somewhere else. When my eggs florentine came, it was a tiny portion in the middle of a big empty plate... sides cost $3 extra!! I sent it back because I didn't think 2 small english muffins with spinach and eggs was worth the hefty $12. All the servers up to this point were, although uninformed about what the kitchen was stocked with, very polite and apologetic. However, the manager came back to our table and very rudely told me that the eggs florentine was INDEED worth $12 because the muffins were baked this morning and the hollandaise was fresh. We, politely, told him that we had had a very disappointing meal, to which he replied that they were too busy for the kitchen and they ran out of things quite often. IF SO, RETHINK YOUR SUPPLIES! He would not take responsibility for anything and never apologized. He told us that if we were unhappy we could just leave! WHAT!?! What kind of service is this? I will never return to Calories. I have never been treated so poorly by a pompous ass of a manager. He should be fired because he is clearly mismanaging his staff and terribly rude to customers. BIG THUMBS DOWN. Terrible terrible terrible. The owner should be ashamed. To boot- the orange juice was NOT fresh, the $7 mimosa was loaded with ice, the poached eggs were hard as well as their homemade english muffin. It's hard to think of what could have made this...
