My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate our one year anniversary. we did book a reservation online but when we arrived it wasn’t busy and they didn’t need to look it up- we weren’t asked our name. The entry is a small little shop door out front below the sign but the restaurant is upstairs. You check in on the first floor though where it must be a take out desk? Staff brought us to our table. VERY attentive staff and super polite and professional. we ordered the Korean BBQ option for two. Picked beef bulgogi and the Denver steak. The menu is a bit weird and hard to navigate. They don’t list what the sides are- you just get what they’ve decided is listed as a side. They will tell you when you ask- but they do not have the option to select from a list. We added side rice to our dishes, we also ordered sushi. The sushi was fantastic. It tasted fresh, the rice to content ratio was perfect and the flavours were spot on. We got the half dynamite half cali roll and the sweet wasabi sauce was lovely. It also had perfect presentation.
The bbq experience was great. He set us up very tenderly & even arranged everything in an aesthetic manner. At one point I dropped my fork and the employee must’ve been paying attention as he quickly grabbed me a new one without me needing to ask.
The flavours were perfect. The bulgogi beef was probably the best and we highly recommend it. We also enjoyed the side of the chicken balls & the onions and carrots had nice flavours.
It’s served with sauces- I only really used the soy sauce. They give you flavoured salt & romaine leaves so you can make yourself little dragon boats with the meat you cook.
You need to ask for fork or Utensils as the standard fare is chopsticks.
The heating induction dish is not dangerous or scary- they adjust it at the table. From time to time you’ll experience smoke in the air that may be a problem for people with breathing difficulties despite the industrial fans they have in the room with you. Didn’t feel there as any risk of burning ourselves or Injury which was nice.
The tables are large and accommodate lots of items.
We really enjoyed our social round table style meal and we would return. It is a bit pricey but it was perfect for what we did get quality wise and made a great anniversary dinner experience.
Note: no parking lot. Must find street parking and adhere to signs for if payment...
Read moreThis place is amazing! I came here expecting a mundane steak, but was surprised by the amazing selection and rather large saké bar, as well as the meat that you got to cook for youself! Everything tasted amazing, even without the sauces they offered, which i used anyway😝. I got the bbq yakiniku meal, which was a choice of either 2 basic meats or 1 premium meat, and a small assortment of supper foods, like miso soup (soybean paste), edamame (soybeans), rice, spicy salad and sweet onions in their house sauce. For meat i got thin sliced beef brisket and kobe beef, which both tasted amazing. The brisket cooked insanely fast, because it was so thin. The kobe also cooked fast, and once i got the food i was done within 10 mins. I also got the kobe beef and cheese rolls (sushi of a sort) and they were the bomb! So savoury and sweet all at the same time! I will be coming back. This is a great place for dates or large group meals, though it was delightful with just me as well! All in all cost around 35 bucks, but i was absolutely stuffed by the end so well worth it! Please note in one of the photos there is a circle that says no phones/scissors/cups/plates, that is the conductive surface for the hot plate, and it heats up very fast when he turns it on, so don't place...
Read moreThe food is excellent. The unique cocktails very worth the price point (low). The kitchen staff - all very skilled it seems - are outgoing and welcoming. The only fall down ... and this is for a place that has only recently opened and they deserve some leniency for... is in the service. My first visit had abysmal service from a blonde girl who obviously didnt want to serve a table as late as 8 o'clock. She deterred me from the restaurant's forte - the bbq - and rushed me out faster than she insinuated I was fat (I am though.. ).
Our second server was better and explained the menu better, though we still had some misunderstanding. She was pretty good overall, though a little flustered.
So there's the crux of your experience. The communication of how theb menu works it makes sense when you understand, but it's not clear as a first or even second time visitor. Ask questions, make sure you order what you want.
Also, a 300 ml bottle of hakasuru sake should not be the same price as a 750 ml bottle of hakasuru sake... just imho.
So give support this new establishment and be honest when the owner comes by. He's very earnest and wants to do well. They have a ton of potential and are worth the...
