Fran and I and Neil and our friends have just had the most amazing Indian food in Saskatoon. Crispy Vegetable Pakora (8 Pcs),
mixed vegetables battered in chickpea flour served with mint chutney & tamarind chutney, delicious.......Jumbo Garlic Shrimp,
shrimp marinated in a delicious sauce made of tasty Indian spices, tandoori masala, lemon, ginger and garlic, excellent flavour and perfectly cooked.......Chicken Korma, marinated pieces of chicken cooked in creamy cashew nut sauce, tender chicken and lots of thick wonderful sauce.......Chicken Coconut Curry, chicken cooked with curry sauce and coconut milk, again tender, delicious and saucy......Lamb Korma, Lamb cooked in great mixture of spices and rich creamy nut sauce, lamb was fork tender and generous in a sauce that was equally tasty......Chicken Biryani, boneless Chicken cooked in layers along with basmati rice, yogurt, fresh herbs and spice.....Garlic naan to die for....and Mango Lassi a drink that is a wonderful blend of mango and yogurt that tastes fresh and creamy. I have to say that the whole meal was a great experience and the service was extraordinarily friendly and helpful. For those of you who are leery about having your tonsils fried by hot curries, or who want a food tonsillectomy, fear not, the chef(s) are very good at adjusting the heat of the dishes to your taste. The cost of these very generous and tasty dishes was a pleasant surprise and despite the desire to clean the plates, we couldn't, and ended up having to box up the remains for lunch tomorrow. A truly five star meal experience. Thank you Samway Grill chef(s) and...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at SamWay Grill in Saskatoon, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. This is hands down the best Indian curry restaurant in town!
The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it perfect for a cozy dinner or a special occasion. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that every need is met with a smile.
Now, the food – simply outstanding! The menu offers a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes, but the curries are the true stars. I highly recommend the Butter Chicken and the Lamb Rogan Josh; both were rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The spices were perfectly balanced, making every bite a delight. Their naan bread is also a must-try, fresh and fluffy, the perfect complement to the savory curries.
Vegetarian options are plentiful and equally delicious. The Paneer Tikka Masala was creamy and packed with flavor.
To top it all off, the prices are very reasonable given the quality and portion sizes. I also appreciated their attention to detail with dietary restrictions, offering clear options for those who need them.
Overall, SamWay Grill is a gem in Saskatoon. If you're looking for authentic Indian cuisine, this is the place to go. Highly...
Read moreOk so I have re-evaluated now that I re-ordered the butter chicken it certainly has taste this time around, the flavour is alright. Medium spice level is good as well.
The place is friendly and I did really like the coconut curry I had my first time. Butter chicken is alright but it's not the item that will blow your socks off. The specialty lays with other items.
** Old review Below *
I am not sure what happened here but the butter chicken I got tastes... Like water to be honest. It smelled really good when it was opening the bag so I'm not quite sure why... If I get covid in the next bit here I will certainly need to revisit this review but I can taste everything else just fine.
The chicken tastes good quality wise but it's the butter chicken sauce that is tasteless. Also as a reminder to myself medium spice seems to be the same as mild. I'll try ordering again at a later time but so far this was weird.
Like the coconut shrimp curry I ordered the day before was great and so was the naan. So I want to believe something bizarre happened with this butter...
