Good fish, the rest was dismal. Took our seats upon arrival, sat for over 15 minutes without seeing a waitress - eventually my wife went to the takeout counter to ask if we were supposed to order at the counter vs table service (?) and we were informed that the waitress would be right over, but "takeout was busy". Apparently takeout is more important than their sit down customers.
The fish was excellent. I ordered the "Fish, chips, and salad" combo (at an obvious extra cost) only to be unimpressed - the ceasar salad was bland with fake bacon bits (I can't believe restaurants still use those), and the worst part was that the salad shared the same plate as my fish and chips, so it came at the expense of half of the amount of french fries that my wife received. I ended up leaving hungry, and parts of my salad were hot because the fish was stacked on top of it. Yuck.
Our drinks were never refilled. Actually, a waitress (despite walking past us a few times) never even checked on us once during our visit. After finishing dinner we were once again left sitting with our dirty plates in front of us for another 15 minutes with no sign of any service in sight. We finally got up to leave (without yet having received our bill) at which point the waitress suddenly arrived to give it to us. We might have had dessert, but we weren't going to wait a half hour to be asked if we wanted any.
A $31 tab for 2 mostly unimpressive fish and chip dinners had us leaving knowing we won't...
Read moreI recently visited Halibut House in this location with a group of friends for a meal, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. From the moment we walked in, the staff, particularly a lady who seemed to be from China, displayed a surprising lack of hospitality. Upon entering, my friend was abruptly informed, "We are not hiring," as if that was our reason for being there. We had to clarify that we were customers, not job seekers. When we decided to sit down and order a combo, we were initially told it was only for take-out. After some confusion and waiting, the lady informed us we could indeed dine in but insisted that the combo wouldn't include drinks. This contradicted their menu, which clearly stated that the combo did include drinks. Throughout our time there, the lady's demeanor remained consistently rude, making the overall experience quite unpleasant. It's disheartening when a restaurant fails to live up to the expectations set by its menu and when customers are treated with such disregard. While the food may have been satisfactory, the customer service significantly tarnished our visit. I hope the management takes note of these issues and strives to provide a more welcoming and accurate experience for...

We’re new to Port Perry from Markham and are finding our new spots to meet/eat. I gave our Markham Halibut house a 5⭐️ Google review for ALL categories ( cleanliness, service/friendliness, quality, quantity, etc. ). We’ve been going there for years. — Special shout out to Tina and Salina who work there ❤️
BREAKFAST — 1⭐️ I’ve never left a breakfast meal hungry at Mark HH. As a matter of fact we still go there once or twice a week. They are the benchmark to which I make this comparison. My wife, daughter and myself went for breakfast. Three separate/identical plates each ONLY had 9 chunks of home fries, well I had 8 because 1 was in my mouth⁉️ Really NOT good for business when right beside you there is Off The Reel another fish n chip restaurant.
LUNCH/DINNER — 3⭐️ Again it came down to portion size. I expect to pay top dollar for Halibut and the size is NEVER enough, no matter where you go. But really the amount of fries doesn’t fill you up.
For those old enough to remember this commercial “ SORRY CHARLIE … “ So I averaged it out to 2⭐️ and we’ll try George’s fish n chips and/or Off the Reel too find our new spot but still visit TINA /...
