I got a 50% off coupon around January 16, 2024 on Facebook and went to the Joeys Seafood at 114 Athabascan Avenue in Sherwood Park on January 18.
I ordered takeout. Ordered 3 piece pollock with shrimp and the order came with two sides. Before the discount, cost was $24.00 plus tax.
I chose coleslaw and sweet potato fries for the sides. Was charged $7.00 for the few shoestring fries. I told the waitress that two sides were included. She said that for some reason they are not. She discounted the fries down to $3.50. Told order was $14.18 including tax.
The restaurant had only two customers beside me even though it was supper time. Bad sign.
Hallway to restrooms was dirty. There was red and green faded markings on floor. For some reason the Rosie’s menu (restaurant next door) was next to the Joey’s menu. Confusing for seniors. Where am I?
Got home with the order. The pollock was three tiny pieces. For pollock? I laughed out loud. For the fries, it seemed that the restaurant cut a medium sweet potato in half and then chopped one half into shoestring fries. The five shrimp and tiny cup of coleslaw were good.
Overall, it felt like I ordered a kids meal. Waste of money. Horrible.

Read moreI went to this restaurant not expecting much. I just wanted some decent seafood. I got there and the waitress was very kind. She took our order, I ordered the crab and shrimp. The waitress then went to the kitchen to ring it in where the chef (I'm assuming, I couldn't see) proceeded to yell at her saying that they don't have crab. She came back to the table to inform me that they didn't have crab because of shortages due to import issues and brought me the menu to look at again. While looking she went back to the kitchen where the woman (chef?) proceeded to say nasty things like "why did they have to order the one thing we don't have?!" She essentially just talked smack and was angry with the waitress for not knowing to tell me they didn't have crab. The waitress did not know they didn't have crab so she couldn't possibly be expected to know that to tell me when I ordered. Needless to say we paid for the pop and decided to leave. The waitress apologized profusely, and I told her she should notify her chef that customers can hear everything being said and she responded that "I don't think she even cares anymore." The waitress did everything she could under the circumstances and was very polite. I will not be returning to this poor example of...
Read moreWe normally go here on a Sunday..great food..on a Sunday..tonight we went and discovered it was all you can eat.. we didn’t want that, we just wanted the meal that we normally get when we go there. They serve it in a nice big silver platter with lots of french fries three beautiful pieces of fish that are normally cooked lovely and perfect. We told the girl we did not want the all-you-can-eat. She brought it to us on two plates anyway..like how they serve all you can eat..not in the normal tray that it’s served in on Sunday. We got less food, and paid over $30 for less food. .. The fries were not cooked thoroughly, and the fish was so greasy that if you pushed on it with your fork, grease rolled out. The batter would not stay on the fish, and the normally delicious tartar sauce was runny..yuck..It was terrible… Almost to the point that I don’t even wanna go back. We may try again on another Sunday. Normally, we would order the calamari, I’m glad we didn’t tonight… The service was OK, but other than that dinner was terrible..do not go on an all you...
