We made reservations here for our wedding rehearsal dinner. We were escorted to the private room but it was too small. They curled the table into a square "C" which meant half of our guests had their backs to each other which made conversation difficult. So after sitting down it took a half an hour before someone came to take our drink orders. They told us that it was normal to wait that long. Most other restaurants have someone to greet you within minutes of being seated by the hostess. At least we were able and ready by then to give our food orders at the same time they put our drink orders in. We let them know who had food allergies/issues (lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, and nut allergy). Another half hour later from having our drink orders taken, they arrived with drinks. They missed my fiancé's drink so she tried ordering it again. One of the waitresses spilled a drink on my cousin. The waitress apologized and cleaned it up as best she could and he just laughed it off (though we found out later that he wasn’t even offered some sort of compensation for the wet pants). We should have checked to see if we were charged for the spilled drink because, after how we were treated, it wouldn’t have surprised us. After an hour and a half, my fiancé decided to see why our food wasn’t coming and spoke to the manager to express her concern and mention that we essentially had no service all night. Our food came out 20 minutes later and the manager apologized for the poor experience and offered to buy my fiancé and I drinks the next time we were in town (we live over 3 hours away, so no). The folks with the food allergies noticed there was dressing on their salads and that other parts of their meals looked like they may have contained the very foods that they had issues with. When the manager came to check on us, he told us that they made everything fresh but could not confirm the ingredients (wha??). They thought they could just get a soup instead, the only soup that they had left contained dairy and they would not make any more of the other soup because they only made one pot of it for the day, and said that their meals aren't made when ordered (again, wha??). One of the waitresses (which we found out later was the owner's wife) offered to buy my fiancé a drink. We wanted to just get out of there and get home to sleep to prepare for the wedding so we didn't really want another drink, but the other option was $10 off our next visit (again, we live 3 hours away), and we knew there would not be a next visit, so we took the drinks. My fiancé finally got her drink she ordered hours ago. The chef must have gotten wind about our unhappiness regarding the wait time or the fact that we couldn't get any food for people with allergies. We assumed that he must have been the owner because he was an older gentleman with a heavy accent, and the fact that any establishment who would let a cook berate customers like he did would have been fired on the spot. He came out already quite irate and told us that the wait was caused by the fact that you have to wait for good food (but this really doesn't explain the half hour wait to just someone to take our drink orders). He also said that if we were worried about food being contaminated for people with allergies was not his. His exact words were "We are not a hospital! If you want special treatment this is not the place for you!" While this spectacle was going on, I was trying to pay the bill with their wireless credit card machine but it kept losing its signal and it wouldn't complete the transaction. The waitress and I were trying to get it done as fast as possible as their chef was berating at the others at my table. It was so awkward that I tried to busy myself by looking at the bill. That was when I noticed that they we were charged for our free drinks. At this point, we just wanted to get the hell out so it was worth the cost to not have to deal with...

My partner ordered the Paidaki and the lamb chops were beautifully cooked served with a lovely mint sauce. I had the Alaskan chicken which was simply divine. For dessert we shared the Chocolate Caramel Bundt Cake. For drinks he had an Old fashioned and a couple of draft beers (I think it was 70 acres) and I had a few glasses of the house red which was good. With dessert, he had a coffee and I had a port.
The thing that we did not appreciate is we booked a table for 1830 and after a wait of 10 mins to be seated (which we did not mind), the meal started well. The atmosphere was great to start off with. They brought out the keftedes quickly and the soup that comes as part of the mains. Our mains however did not arrive for over an hour (1 hour and 30 mins to be exact). Vicky apologized saying that they had a table with 50 guests to deal with. We said we understood but were starving and were still waiting for the bread and butter we had ordered due to the long wait for the mains. We had not wanted to order bread to save room for our mains but were starving. Sadly, we thought that as we had mentioned waiting for even the bread, it would miraculously appear but alas, we had to continue to wait for it.
What sucked was we not only got charged for the bread, we were not even offered a complimentary desert or even drink. I mean our bill was over $200 (my fault as i had presumed the house wine would be reasonable priced) and we had not made a fuss and were trying to be understanding. Most restaurants would do this as a gesture of goodwill to make up for slow service or a customer indicating they were not impressed. We were going to leave during that long wait as the actual drinks service was slow as well. And we should have left as it was rather dismal and not very good customer service. The water service, however, was excellent and our glasses were always filled. We never saw Vicky again till we were leaving the restaurant many hours later. She did apologize again for the wait but did not ask for any feedback on our meals or the service.
So, while the food was excellent (I have given 5 stars for that) the service owing to the long wait (not our waitress's fault) was dismal. If you cannot cater to a party of 50 guests at one time due to lack of staff etc., perhaps you should not accept such a large booking. Or inform guests before they are seated that dinner will be a long wait. We like to support local businesses but do expect great customer...
