Have visited this space before when it was the previous two bars, so I wanted to give this new place a try since I haven't heard of it. I came in with my roommate Wednesday night, and was a little confused from the disjointed decor and the strange layout with a large open space in the middle of the restaurant, but remained optimistic. The dining room was almost full and staff looked very busy but they were attentive and friendly. We ordered calamari to start, and it came slightly overcooked but not awful. We both ordered burgers, him a donair burger and myself their "everything" burger with the fried egg, with a side of what the waitress told me was mushroom soup. We received our meals timely, but while we were waiting, a stranger interrupted our seated booth dining experience by slapping a business card on our table and running away. If that wasn't extremely off-putting enough, as I prefer my personal space not to be invaded and also not to be solicited for business while I'm trying to eat, the manner in which it happened it was rude and unprofessional. Our food arrives after, the burgers were a bit charred from being over-cooked with the bacon somehow being over and undercooked at the same time? Even the fried egg was very crunchy. His burger was also very lack-luster in both flavour and texture. And the soup.... It had two large brown mounds floating in it, which I thought were whole mushrooms, which I had never seen in my entire life before. I bite into one, and it turns out they are meatballs. So so strange, and the soup was so thick and salty I couldn't eat it. The lovely waitress brought me a salad instead. Based on the food (with my roommate having cooked for Sawmill & various other bars/restaurants and me being used to a higher quality), being rudely solicited for business while I was eating, and the odd decor rounding it out, I would never...
Read moreTHE SERVERS ARE MISERABLE AND WANT TO MAKE YOU MISERABLE TOO! Normally I love to support an independent restaurant rather than going to a chain, but this place really needs to overhaul its staff. The space was nice and decently clean and the food was good, but HOLY SMOKES the wait staff was atrocious. The lady who greeted us when we came in was incredibly rude. She didn’t look up at us and when she did she was condescending. I thought “oh man she’s having a bad day” but then we were taken to our table where a different lady acted annoyed when I asked for a high chair and chastised our large group that “this is a family restaurant” when we asked for a drink menu… yeah so is Boston pizza but you’re still allowed to order a beer or a glass of wine, right?? It was clear she just didn’t want to get the drink menu because it was in the bar area. Then she snapped at someone in the group (of five) when they tried to order food with their drinks (because we’d obviously been waiting a while), she said she would get our order when she brought the drinks and was very snippy about it. Never a smile on this woman’s face, no joke! I thought woah maybe it’s been a rough day, so I mentioned our horrible experience the someone else and they said “Yes!! Those ladies are insanely rude! It’s shocking!” So obviously this is an issue. Headquarters needs to speak to its staff or change them. The food is decent and the space is nice, but I will never darken the door of this place again because of the...
Read moreFist I am a regular customer of Headquarters Restaurant. I enjoy the service and the atmosphere. The food is flavourful and abundant. I never leave hungry or dissatisfied. Until today, that is. Today, November 15, 2024, the fire alarm went off. No one paniced, and we were promptly informed it was a test. No problem. 20 - 25 minutes later the firemen arrived to turn off the alarm. By then the staff had lost their usual abilities, clients were complaining, or just leaving. I had developed a headach from the piercing noise of the alarm, and the need to shout to be heard over it. One of my friends, there were 6 of us, had to keep her eyes closed for fear the strobe lights could effect her. Service was definitely diminished from its usual level afterward, as we experienced 3 - 4 different servers by then. None of whom seemed to communicate with the other. After all this we were not ever offered a discount, or even our coffees for free. I am very...
