I have been a loyal customer for over 15 years. We were craving dim sum and thought there's no better place than the Golden Rice Bowl. We were so wrong! We were 1 of 3 tables that night (it was really quiet for a Friday night). First thing we noticed was they had removed all the prices off their menu. This was a major red flag! We are aware some restaurants have increased there prices but we were in for a rude awakening. We placed an order for pork dumplings (4 little dumplings), shrimp cakes, chicken wings, and 1 order of peach shrimp. While we were waiting for our food, we watched them fish out a dead crab out of the tank. That will be someones dinner the next couple of days and they will charge you top dollar for "fresh". We received our order and noticed the 6 deep fried chicken wings had hairs or deep fried feathers (see photo). The wings were subpar, and the portion was super small for almost $15.00!. The peach shrimp had regular mayo, not sweet mayo. You could tell the kitchen didn't care about the quality or taste. That dish cost a whopping $30.00! Our bill came out to $60.00 dollars! That's absolutely insane! With the lack of customers in the restaurant and them removing the prices on their menu, is a clear indication that these people do not care about their customers, only profits. It's sad because this was our go to place for dim sum. Not anymore and not ever again. I give this place a year at best before they go under. It's obvious they are trying to squeeze every last dollar and cent out of customers before they...
Read moreBeen meaning to write this review since we visited for the very first time last month (October). From the time we entered and all our interactions with two staff and the owner were just stellar! This is saying a lot because unfortunately, customer service is not a strong point for the majority of Chinese/Indian/Asian restaurants (sorry, this brownie has to be honest). However, the staff at Golden Rice Bowl were just so friendly and this undoubtedly comes down from the very sweet owner who stopped by and chatted with us. She is lovely and I can see why she has been in business for so long.
The food was definitely delicious. My Singaporean husband is picky when it comes to Chinese food.
The reason I can't give 5 stars is because our menu did not have prices. We had just gone in for a few dim sum items but ended up ordering a couple of dishes that the owner recommended - little did we know that they were the most expensive items on the menu. The two of us paid $92 for our meal and needless to say we had sticker shock! We have never paid so much for Chinese food in our lives and can't remember the last time we spent that much on LUNCH anywhere! My humble recommendation to management is that they be transparent about their prices.
Otherwise, happy with our expensive...
Read moreI brought my wife to Golden Rice Bowl for Mother’s Day. We were too late in the day for Dim Sum, arriving between the clean up from lunch and early for dinner. We stood at the door for a long time before a gentleman seated us. Then we waiting for a long time before anyone brought us tea and drinks. The restaurant was a mess and was clearly understaffed for the transition between dim sum and dinner service. The service was rushed and abrupt with very little hospitality. When our rice dish had not yet arrived, my wife tried to get the attention of a male staff member that was walking toward her, and she said, “Excuse me.” HE WAVED HER OFF WITH HIS HAND!!! My blood was boiling! I was so insulted that he would dismiss my wife (on Mother’s Day no less) so incredibly rudely, to not acknowledge her, and he did not even return to address her concern after he attended to the table he was seating. Absolutely abhorrent service and poor manners. We were very disappointed at the service. Golden Rice Bowl Managers, please plan ahead on a critical holiday like Mother’s Day, to have adequate staffing coverage between peak times. Have proper busking staff. And train your staff to be respectful. I’m disgusted and do not...
