I’ve eaten in the restaurant before and had a good experience. So when my coworkers and I decided to order sushi before our evening shift, we naturally thought Kabuki would be a great option. We were wrong unfortunately. We ordered at 4:05PM and were quoted a delivery time of 55 minutes. Work starts at 5:30. We figured this was more than enough time, even with any potential delays. What we didn’t know is that Kabuki serves all in house patrons before any online orders. So at 4:50 when we checked the progress of the order and it said they hadn’t even prepared it yet, AND that the order was to be another 47 minutes (which would mean delivery well after our start time), we called. The restaurant had actually requested to skip the dishes that they send a driver at 5:10PM. That’s more than an HOUR after we sent our order in. When we asked about this, they gave us excuses, did not offer any compensation, nothing. Completely unacceptable. The excuses they gave was, “it was a large order, we only pushed it back 10 minutes.” I’m sorry, but if you can’t accomodate online orders and treat those patrons with the same respect as the ones who walk in, you should NOT be offering delivery on Skip the dishes. We weren’t happy at all with our experience. They did have an opportunity to amend this and they chose not to. They lost 8 customers today. Each one of us is so disappointed with this experience that I doubt any of us will be ordering...
Read moreDecided to try this place after I wasnt able to get a table at Mikados. I chose this restuarant as the reviews were good and they were similar to solekis on whyte (my favorite place for a quick roll but it's now AYCE)
I called ahead to make sure a table would be avalible. I was told yes and headed over. Upon arriving the restaurant was empty, my first bad sign.
I ordered ice water, a dragon roll with sauce on the side and a spicy tuna crunch.
I was served "cold water" as they had no ice?
When my rolls arrived they were Mediocre at best similar to food court sushi. There was no sauce on the side and my server had not brought over wasabi or ginger. I tried to get their attention ( in an empty restaurant it shouldn't be hard) but I couldn't. eventually they came over with wasabi and apologized they had forgot, the wasabi looked as if it was plated yesterday and was quite watery from the ginger. I pointed out the sauce was not on the side and they brought some over.
The dragon roll is filled with "crab" although this is stated on the menu its imitation California roll "crab"
My water was left empty for quite sometime and I wrote this review (2x as a deleted it by accident) in the time it took me to get the bill.
I will not be coming back here. $28 for 2 rolls and warm water isn't it. I planned on tipping as I usually do even if the service is bad, but for that price I didn't tip. Maybe one day I'll find a...
Read moreI came to Kabuki Sushi & Grill South for lunch recently. The atmosphere and service were good. In terms of food, I tried their Bento Box B with chicken instead of beef and the Chopped Scallop Roll. There was quite a bit of food for the Bento: 4 big pieces of sashimi (2 salmon, 2 tuna), 2 sushi (1 salmon, 1 tuna), teriyaki chicken, assorted tempura, salad, edamame, rice, and miso soup. Everything tasted good overall: Good miso soup that was not too salty, Fresh sashimi and sushi, especially the tuna, Nicely grilled chicken that went really well with the rice, Decent tempura, Nice balance of salad and edamame with the rest of the items. The chopped scallop roll was pretty good as well with nice chunks of scallop. Overall, the bento was better than expected and made a very full lunch, albeit more expensive than some other restaurants’ bento boxes. As such, perhaps lowering the price while reducing the amount or number of items a bit may be considered…I’d...
