Very poor experience and customer service. We made a reservation for 9 people for a family dinner. We arrived around 7:30 PM only to find out that we were split into 2 tables. No issues if its just a split due to setup - but we were actually on 2 different areas. We asked if we can be sat all together, “No we are busy and we cant.” Kinda odd response since we made a reservation - we still asked but wasn't really winning - so we just left it be. And looked at the menu and was excited to try their BBQ selection.
Here is another disappointment - we placed our order only to be told we can not have the BBQ since our table did not have the appropriate setup - we asked well we made a reservation, our server left and checked the kitchen and said “well, sorry you cant have BBQ or we can cook it in the kitchen for you.” Thanks for trying to accommodate, but just very odd that we cant experience the BBQ since that is the main reason we were there. We try to ask if we can get moved - response was “well were busy and no you cant.” We mentioned were part of a group and said “they can BBQ but you cant.”
Anyways, we sat for another 5 mins trying to see if they can accommodate but the staff wasn't even trying to work out a suitable solutions for the product/experience they were offering. It felt like they just wanted us gone so we all stood up and left. No sorry, no acknowledgement, no nothing.
So yeah - maybe confirm that you are ordering BBQ or else you'll be left out and having to figure...
Read moreI was fortunate to visit Jung a couple times in early January and I was quite happy with the food and service they offered. They are located in a small strip mall, right beside many other Korean eateries and services in town.
Edmonton has been lacking in true Korean BBQ options, so I am really happy to have another option now. On the first occasion I ordered the Pork set for 3-4 people (pictured), on the second occasion we ordered the Pork and Meat Combo for 5-6 people. No, this restaurant does not do AYCE but operates on set menu.
Overall, we found the meat quality and quality of side dishes to be good and for a larger group the pricing was very reasonable for Edmonton standards (in fact I think it is better than the other set menu KBBQ option in terms of pricing in town.) For 4 people we ended around $40 per person, for 6 people ~$30-35 per person. Ambience and service at the restaurant was also acceptable as well. The grills used did not produce a lot of smoke if you're concerned with that.
Only nitpicks from me would be that the tangsuyuk could be crispier, the serving for the lettuce can be larger initially (you can however ask for refills), and I am not sure if they intend to add any dipping sauce for the KBBQ (right now only salt seasoning is provided.)
I would love to come again if the place remains...
Read moreA Taste of Korea in South Edmonton
If you're looking for a solid Korean dining experience in South Edmonton, this spot delivers quality flavors with a slightly higher price point and modest portions.
The standout dish for me was the bulgogi stew, which offers a generous portion—perfect for sharing between two to three hungry adults. Rich, savory, and deeply satisfying, it’s a must-try for those craving comfort food with bold flavors.
No visit is complete without the corn cheese, a staple side dish that’s both indulgent and addictive. It’s a crowd-pleaser that pairs well with any meal.
For those interested in exploring Korean beverages, the restaurant offers a selection of imported Korean beers. I recommend trying Terra, a refreshing and crisp option that complements the dishes beautifully.
While the portions lean on the modest side for the price, the flavors and quality make it a worthwhile dining experience. If you're in the area and craving authentic Korean cuisine, this place is...
