I recently visited this restaurant and had a very disappointing experience. First, we were charged an 18% service fee but were not provided with an itemized bill, which felt very unprofessional and left us questioning the transparency of their pricing.
The chicken biriyani we ordered was pathetic. It barely had any chicken pieces, making it a very poor representation of what is supposed to be a flavorful and hearty dish. The quality was far below our expectations and not worth the price.
Overall, this visit was quite unsatisfactory due to both the hidden charges and the subpar food quality. I would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience.
Thank you for your below response, but I must address several inaccuracies in your account of the events during our visit. If our case had been handled as you described below, I would not have written about my experience as above. This is how it should have been handled, but unfortunately, it unfolded differently.
In the past, I've penned many reviews detailing my experiences across different locations. It's typical for individuals to express their preferences and grievances, which ultimately aids businesses in their development. I firmly believe that this feedback is instrumental in fostering their growth. Google serves as an exceptional platform for this exchange, benefiting both consumers and businesses alike.
We appreciated the food and the initial efforts of your staff. However, the issue with the receipt printer was unfortunate, and the way it was handled contributed to our frustration. Contrary to your statement, the server didn’t show the bill on the iPad, and the 18% service charge was not clearly explained beforehand, leading to confusion and a feeling of being unfairly charged.
When we arrived at your restaurant, the server asked how many people were in our group, and we said ten. She then asked us to wait while she arranged the tables but did not inform us about the 18% service charge. The server joined three adjacent tables and seated us, which was fine. We noticed a sign about the additional service charge at the separate party room entrance, but we were not seated there.
We ordered food, which was served promptly, and we appreciated that. However, we only realized there was an additional 18% service charge when we received the verbal bill after waiting around 30 minutes to an hour. With three small children in our group, this wait was particularly challenging.
Your response mentions that you offered to remove the service charge and provide a complimentary dessert, but that did not happen. We don’t know where this information came from. We do not need to make false allegations against you, and we encourage you to review your CCTV footage for confirmation.
Most importantly, the allegation of hostile behavior and verbal abuse towards your staff is entirely unfounded. Our group maintained a respectful demeanor throughout the evening, and any suggestion otherwise is simply not true. We are dismayed by the characterization of our behavior and the subsequent decision to ban us from your establishment.
We believe in fair and respectful treatment for both guests and staff, and it is regrettable that our concerns have been met with such a response. We hope this clarifies our perspective on the matter.
Thank you again for taking the time to respond to my review. We wish you...
Read moreWe had a bad experience at this restaurant and don't recommend this establishment to people who want to enjoy a peaceful dinner in the Squamish area.
When we entered the restaurant the lady in front mentioned I can not enter because I was wearing a sleeveless shirt. To accommodate the dress code requirement she mentioned I should borrow my friends jacket which I did and only then we were allowed to enter. After seating us at the corner of the restaurant another group of people entered and one person in that group was wearing a sleeveless shirt. Another person in that group was wearing short pants and sandals. It felt ridiculous to know I was asked to wear a jacket but the other group was allowed to wear a sleeveless shirt. To the owner - if you have a dress code requirement make sure you apply it properly to everyone and not have double standards.
The website of this restaurant brands itself as an elite fine dining establishment. I disagree with this because when I went to use the bathrooms it was smelling of urine and there was urine all over under the urinals and next to the toilets. The bathroom door was open and the stench of the urine smell was permeating into the eating area. For a supposedly fine dining restaurant the owner should make sure the toilets are kept clean and spotless. Employ more people to keep your bathrooms clean or do it yourself.
The food was extremely average. The Tandoori Malai Chicken was undercooked and did not feel as if it was made in an authentic tandoori oven. The chicken felt a bit raw and we struggled to eat it. The lamb masala and vindaloo was average tasting and certainly not fine dining it tasted like regular street food from India. In addition to this the server had an attitude problem which needs readjustment. I have noticed the owner of this restaurant is combative and has an attitude when people rate this establishment as one star. Instead of doing that recognize when customers rate your restaurant poorly and make the appropriate adjustments to improve the experience of people who are looking for good quality Indian food in the...
Read moreTitle: Extremely Disappointing Experience at Indian Masala Bar and Grill
I recently ordered from Indian Masala Bar and Grill through DoorDash and I am utterly disappointed with the experience. I spent a staggering $80 on just two dishes, and the portions served were nothing short of questionable. It is absolutely unacceptable to pay such a high price and receive such measly portions.
To make matters worse, I am currently staying at a hotel that does not provide utensils in the room. I had hoped that the restaurant would include utensils in the delivery bag, but to my dismay, there were absolutely zero utensils provided. So now, not only am I left with minuscule portions, but I am also forced to eat my expensive meal with my bare hands.
Let's talk about the dish I ordered, the prawn vindaloo. For a dish that costs over $20, I received a measly six prawns. This is an outrageously small portion for the price I paid. On top of that, the sauce was watery and lacked the rich and flavorful consistency that I expect from a vindaloo dish.
I am deeply disappointed with the quality of food and the lack of attention to detail in both the portion sizes and the packaging. As a customer, I expect to receive value for my money, especially when I am paying such exorbitant prices. The restaurant's failure to deliver on these basic expectations reflects a complete disregard for customer satisfaction.
I strongly advise against dining at Indian Masala Bar and Grill. The high prices, questionable portions, and lack of utensils make for an incredibly disappointing experience. I hope that the restaurant takes my feedback seriously and makes immediate improvements to their service. Customers deserve better than what I experienced, and it is crucial for the restaurant to address these issues and provide a better dining experience...
