Joey's Fish Shack - St. Albert — Restaurant in St. Albert

I emailed it as requested but all this tells me is Corporate is bone lazy. Why didn't they email it themselves. Why is it the customers job to deal with their franchise owners amd poor performance?

Saturday July 15th 17:00. Get to the restaurant, not a soul in the place. Was there till 6, one Skip pickup, one takeout and zero other dine in clients. Despite the lack of clients, service was inattentive, to put it kindly.

It was very easy to see why this place is dead customer wise. My companion ordered a glass of Melbec, had to send it back as it was off from being left open for at least a week or two. Clam chowder, thin, no flavour and full of grit. Sent that back too.

Cajun pan fried cod 2 piece meal, fish was actually good but tiny, tiny portion. If there were 4 ounces of fish, I would be surprised, and for 22 bucks, I expect way more food than that. Fries were dry and overdone. Partners fish tacos, the fish was way overdone, and the tacos were dried out pre-packaged that were either out too long or had been in the freezer too long.

Decor is warehouse shiek, and the floors need a real good clean. Your shoes stick to the floor when you go to the bathroom. At least the bathroom was clean.

Then they tried twice to overcharge when we were paying. This place is not going to be around much longer if they don't dramatically improve the food and service.

We were both still hungry, so we went to Atlantic kitchen for fish and chips. Great food and lots of it, for about the same money. Should have gone there in the first place but like to try new spots every once in a while. Doesn't always...

I ordered curb side pickup online and got there when it said it would be ready and called the restaurant as per their instructions. A lady answered and said hello…she wasn’t sure what I was calling about so she passed to someone else who I had to explain everything to again including my car that was parked in front but facing away from the restaurant. After waiting 15 min I went inside and the lady said oh sorry I went outside and didn’t see you so J came back in. (Why not call me if I ordered online as you have my phone number?) The lady got my food from the back and again was confused about payment but I had paid online. Family’s review of the family pack: All agreed the fish was really good but the tartar sauce was too sweet and just weird…it was like Caesar salad dressing with sugar in it, and the coleslaw could be a little tastier. Fries would have been better if they weren’t cold by the time I got them. We would go back but for dine in only if they had a more traditional tartar sauce. Would not order...

Always order the dinner for two meal here when I am craving some greasy battered fish and chips - the price is good and the food always hits the spot. My wife always get the mushy peas and although I do not like them, she says they taste great. So if you are into mushy peas I guess you should try them. I have only every ordered take out from this location so I can't comment much on the restaurant, but the food is always great - even after the drive back home, the fish stays crisp and the fries are not soggy. I usually feel very sad when I come here to pick up my food because of all the times I have been here I have never seen more than one table in the restaurant ever... not sure how they are still in business, but hopefully they stay around because they are the best place for fish and chips...
