Why would you lie about comping my meal when my bank statement shows my payment to Socrates?
EDIT: My review indicated I was aware the special was for a limited time only which why I checked before we went. Don't make it sound like I didn't know that because, again, I checked that morning and it was still on your website which the waitress made YOU aware of AFTER we asked about it. My breakfast WASN'T removed from the bill - I paid AND left a tip because our waitress was very pleasant and I know it wasn't her fault I received hard "medium poached eggs" TWICE. Had it been comped, I wouldn't have the complaints I do! Lastly, it WAS NOT busy the Wednesday afternoon we were there so just accept it and forget about making excuses.
A friend and I went in for their 35th anniversary special today and were disappointed with everything but the service. I checked before we went to ensure it hadn't ended because it was "limited time only". It was still on the website so I incorrectly assumed it was available. We were told that it had ended and when I mentioned it was still being advertised, thinking they would honor their offer, I was told it was over. We ended up ordering breakfast off the menu and our meals were AWFUL! My medium poached eggs were hard, our "shredded potatoes" were cold and greasy mini french fries, the bacon was SO overcooked, there was NO flavour left. I ended up sending mine back and the potatoes came back even greasier (although hot) and the eggs were still hard. I'm surprised their "cook" didn't know medium poach shouldn't have the yoke cooked solid but I ate half of my meal anyway. My companion was surprised the manager didn't visit our table as she knows many owners and managers who should have an idea what is happening in their own...
Read moreGood but not great. I ordered the full lasagna and a vodka water. The waitress didn't know how to make a vodka water so I provided her step by step instructions (Fill short glass with ice, add 1oz vodka, fill remainder of glass with water, garnish with lime or lemon). Not gonna fault her with not knowing this as she may have been new and not a drinker. After waiting less than 10 minutes my colleagues and my meals arrived which seemed rather quick for a full lasagna. Needless to say I was not very satisfied with this supposed "Lasagna" as it was just a whole lot of wet noodles with little to no sause. I don't know about you but I expect my lasagna to be a rich and thick meaty sause full of cheese and if possible cottage or ricotta cheese in the middle. My colleague eventually caught the attention of our server and I informed her of my disappointment of this meal and she apologetically took it back to the kitchen. After maybe another 20 minutes i get their redo which did have a lot more tomatoes sauce but still almost no meat if any at all. I appreciate the effort to make the lasagna more appealing but I would not order again. P.S. I did eat the whole thing so it wasn't gross, just not what I expected in a lasagne. (FYI-MY colleague ordered steak & eggs with hash browns that looked good that he confirmed was...
Read moreMy wife and I went to Socrates at about 1:30 pm for lunch. Their were only a few people so no rush. Coffee was provided immediately but the wait for lunch about 20min. My wife’s meal came with a side of soup. She ate a couple of spoons then ate a bit of the main meal. When she returned to the soup she thoughtful there was an eye lash in it but when she removed it, it was about a 4 inch black hair. Gross. We pointed it out to the waiter who was quite revolted about it. Offered my wife another soup(ugg) or side. She declined and the waitress apologized and took the soup away. Later when she brought the bill she said she had waived the cost of my wife’s coffee. I the went up to the counter to pay and told the waitress that it wasn’t her fault and politely suggested the least they could do would be to waive the cost of the meal. She was not pleased with this so I said I would like to talk to management to which she grudgingly added the coffee back on and waive the one meal cost. From that vantage point I could see into the kitchen and saw three cooks all with black hair one with a cap and two with no hairnet or any protection. The meals were a little expensive for a simple lunch and were quite bland. Needless to say we will not return to this establishment and will ensure our friends know the reason...
