China Garden — Restaurant in St. Catharines

Ordered from China Garden on Sunday because our usual place didn’t have delivery. Was very impressed with the food. The sweet and sour chicken was so light and crispy and perfect. A million times better than the doughy chicken balls other places offer. This was not greasy and not soggy at all. Having worked in a couple kitchens, i know you have to fry things at the right temp so the breading doesn’t absorb all the oil. They really know what they’re doing here.

Their beef and broccoli is way better than the beef and pepper other restaurants offer in their combos. General Tao chicken was also nice crispy and the Singapore Mi Fun noodles were light and tasty.

I legit can’t stop thinkIng about that sweet and sour chicken. I ate it all yesterday and today I want more. I liked it so much I had to come here and write a review and tell everybody about it.

Portion sizes were great too. Our meal for 3 could have fed 5 easily. Very happy with what we received for the price we paid. This will be a new regular spot...

I always enjoy anything I've ordered from here. But you have to keep in mind that the food isn't authentic Chinese food, it's "North American" style; however there are a few items you'd find in China. The dumplings are really wonderful and you can get them steamed or fried. The staff are super friendly and helpful. I'm not keen on the General Tso's chicken; I found it too sweet and there was too much sauce on it. The hot and sour soup wasn't good; even the Mandarin does hot and sour soup better. I had to add some mushrooms, bamboo sticks, chili oil and rice wine vinegar to it at home to make it palatable. My impressions of these 2 dishes have been formed after eating them at various restaurants both in Toronto and St. Catharines, so I definitely have a preferred place to go for those. WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN!!

The lady that works the front and takes orders is BEYOND rude! I’ve been ordering here for years only because I love the coconut chicken and no other places offer it in the city. Every time we call this lady is beyond rude, she has zero customer service skills! My boyfriend picked up our order this time and as soon as he got in the car the first thing he said was “I’m never ordering from this place again babe, that lady is so rude!” She is super disrespectful and if you call you will find out for yourself! There’s tons of Chinese’s restaurants in this city and we will be finding another one and never returning they’ve officially lost our business! It’s a shame!
