After complaining for 16 years since I moved here from Toronto that there’s no good-authentic Chinese (Cantonese) restaurant in the Niagara area, Kevin Ng and wife Ling opened Dy So Lucky Star in Downtown St. Catherines. It is an unassuming take-out only place with explosively delicious authentic Cantonese cuisine. Options available for the Western palate (chicken balls, etc.). Kevin is a trained chef from Hong Kong and is professional and creative. Must try his Pepper Salted Calamari! The Dy So chicken wings are boneless and stuffed with sticky rice - heavenly!! Kevin also makes his own sauces from scratch including his hot sauce and the orange sauce (from mandarin oranges and peels) for the sweet and sour dishes! My favorite go-to are fried rice, wonton soup, mixed vegetables, and beef noodles (chow fan), and they taste 100% delightfully flavorful, just the way I love and remember them from childhood British Hong Kong! His prices are beyond reasonable!! John and I wholeheartedly recommend Dy...
Read moreOmg the food was sooooo good! We found this place because of TikTok reviews and let me tell you the reviews didn't lie! The food was so good! The flavour, the servings, and the price, Im so glad we tried this gem! We have definitely found a new go to for our chinese food night! I recommend the beef broccoli and the Shanghai noodle, the house chop suey was amazing too which is saying something as I'm not a big chop suey fan but thiers was so tasty. My kids went nuts over the Orange chicken and the sesame chicken! I will say pass on the egg rolls and spring rolls though, nothing wrong with them but nothing great either they were meh! The place was so cute, it's take out only so don't go looking for dine in. But it was nice, clean and brightly decorated. The service was great. She was sweet and full of smiles and offered free tea with our order. The entire experience made our at home midweek anniversary meal wonderful! Can't wait to...

My partner and I were served raw chicken after ordering their popular Dy So boneless chicken and seen both pieces were completely raw, and unfortunately, my partner ate a piece before realizing. We did receive a refund for the chicken after bringing it to their attention, but that doesn’t excuse the fact that it was served raw in the first place. We’re genuinely concerned about potential food poisoning.
On top of that, one of our noodle orders was completely wrong. When it was remade, we left right after receiving it because we didn’t feel comfortable staying any longer just to find out it was still made incorrectly once we got home.
It’s really unfortunate because we were excited to try this place after seeing it online, but after this experience, we’re not sure we’d risk...
