It was a little expensive for a DIY Dinner. But it was overall a good experience. And the "prepared foods" on the "buffet" were good. It was fun for a novel experience, made better by the people I was there with.
I found the staff to be... Well, let's not gild the lily here... They're not super friendly or outgoing.
Were I an owner, or manager, I'd probably be a little "peeved". Some of the minor issues I had with the staff.
I had to ask staff for water a few times, which is a rarity for me anywhere else. In most places, once your drink is empty, someone will usually come ask if you want a refill, this did not happen, and it was not busy the night we were there, there was only one other active table on the hibachi side.
No one on the staff explained how it worked, or gave us any inkling about where to start, we had a paper with a list of meats shoved in front of us, with a pencil, and kinda had to "figure it out ourselves". To the point I was unsure if any of the staff even HAD vocal cords. No explanation of the sauce selections, veggie selections, or even the prepared food buffet. I had to rely on the other diners at our table who had actually been there before.
Staff, sullenly congregated at the bar in a clump of 3 or 4, and stared at the 2 active tables. It was kinda creepy. There was much murmuring among them, but no one seemed to outwardly be discussing the customers, but... Bad optics. Again, as someone who has worked in food service, I'd be pissed as an owner or manager.
The 15% tip was "included" in the final bill. Which probably cost the staff about 5-10% MORE, because I was NOT happy that they already decided I was giving 15%. Usually I start my tip amount at 25%, and reduce the amount for things that are absolutely under the control of the workers. And, to be honest, I probably wouldn't have penalized them at all as it was my first time in, and I didn't know if this was "normal" for the staff of this restaurant.
All in all... It was a good dinner. Love the atmosphere, and wasn't even unhappy with the service, just taken aback how "hands off" the staff were.
100% WOULD recommend. Just don't expect "high end"...

It was my first time trying Vietnamese hotpot, though I’ve had Chinese hotpot before, and I was blown away by how delicious and distinct it was. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel so welcome, patiently walking us through every step since it was a new twist on hotpot for me. Their guidance and enthusiasm turned the meal into a delightful adventure. The food was outstanding—bursting with flavor and served in hearty portions. We chose three broths: chicken plain, chicken spicy, and vegetable. The plain chicken was rich and comforting, the spicy chicken brought a bold, exciting heat, and the vegetable broth was fresh and perfectly balanced. They offered Menu A and Menu B (with Menu B adding extra seafood and pork options), but we went with Menu A, and it was more than enough. The selection was impressive, with lots of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians—fresh veggies, tofu, and tasty meats that catered to everyone at the table.
The DIY sauce station was a fun touch—you mix your own from a wide array of options, letting you customize every bite. My wife, who’s notoriously picky about food, genuinely loved the dish, which says a lot! My nephew couldn’t get enough of the pork, shrimp balls and noodles grinning with every bite.Compared to my Chinese hotpot experiences, the Vietnamese flavors here felt lighter yet satisfying. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, perfect for our family celebration, and the staff checked in just enough to keep everything running smoothly.LANG Hotpot made our anniversary dinner unforgettable with its delicious food, generous portions, and top-notch service. If you’re in St. Catharines and want a fresh take on hotpot—or just a great meal—this place is a must-visit. I’m already excited...
Read moreYesterday was our first time coming here and having a hotpot dining experience. We were greeted warmly by Kai and Henry. We verified our vaccination status and were promptly seated. The restaurant is spacious and decorated nicely. Kai is the absolute best. 🙂 Since, it was our first time, he recommended the best broths to try a sweet broth and a spicy broth. We had a large party of 7 so, he walked us through how to choose the meats and showed us where everything was to get ready for our hotpots. We ordered our drinks. I ordered the fresh squeezed passion fruit juice. Chi brought it out to me with a smile and she was wonderful in showing us the process of what to do. The meat was sliced thin and fresh; we added our meats, veggies and noodles to the broth. It was on from there. 🙂 The soy sauce and peanut dipping sauces are delicious. My favorite was the soy based sauce. The broths Kai recommended are absolutely delicious. The hotpots have become one of our absolute favorite dining experiences. 🙂 After, we had our fill of the hotpots; we enjoyed the fresh fruits and the cheesecake. Kai spent time talking to us and told us about the ice cream that was available. We had the mango, chocolate and coconut. They are delicious. 😋 The mango is what I ordered and is my favorite. I would highly recommend coming here. The restaurant is all you can eat and it's definitely worth the price. We will be back again. They also have Korean BBQ and we are ready to try that as well. 🙂 Thank you Chi, Kai and Henry for making our first...
