I usually don’t post about hospitality experiences because I understand that people have tough days, and sometimes that reflects in their work. But this time, I genuinely feel compelled to share what happened; because one staff member’s repeated behavior has completely ruined my trust in this branch.
I moved to Thorold about 2.5 months ago and have been a regular customer at this specific Lazeez outlet, visiting multiple times a week. There was even a week when I went daily. I’ve spent well over $1500/2,000 here since moving ; that’s how much I liked the food.
However, I’ve had three extremely unpleasant experiences with the same front counter girl; a fair girl wearing glasses; whose attitude towards customers is consistently rude and dismissive.
The first incident happened when I politely asked her when the chicken items would be available. She didn’t hear me properly, so I repeated my question; and she rudely snapped, “That’s what I just said!” I could have easily waited, but her tone was so unprofessional that I decided to leave. From that day on, I tried to avoid interacting with her whenever possible.
The second incident happened today. I went to place my order (a large shawarma and a student special chicken on the rocks). To give context; I had already visited this same outlet earlier in the morning and bought two chicken shawarmas and two chicken on the rocks, and I had also visited the previous night. I’ve been one of their most consistent customers.
Despite that, the same girl decided to publicly question the authenticity of my official student ID; something that has been accepted multiple times before by other staff and even by her. She bluntly told me “the person in the photo isn’t you” and claimed my ID was “not real.” I had to show my university’s official app displaying my student ID and even my logged; in student email in front of other customers just to prove that I’m a genuine student. It was humiliating, unnecessary, and extremely disrespectful.
And to make things worse, I’ve consistently noticed that she speaks very differently to different people. Her tone with native Canadian customers is cheerful, polite and professional, but the way she speaks to Indian or international students is harsh, dismissive, and condescending. Her voice and tone are so unpleasant that even normal conversations feel demeaning; something no customer should experience, especially in a hospitality setting.
To be treated like a fraudster over a $3 student discount, after being a loyal and regular customer, was the final straw. I’ve always liked Lazeez for its food, but this specific branch has lost my trust completely because of one rude and unprofessional staff member who clearly doesn’t understand the basics of customer service or respect.

I'm not big on leaving bad reviews but when I have bad customers service it's hard to stay quiet. I'm not sure when customer service when out the window but it's at a all time disgrace. First of all I ordered my food so that my friend could grab it on his way in after a 12 hour day. Only for him to get there and still have to wait another 10 mins so they can make the order. They will take your order but not make it untill you get there. Why take orders over the phone if your not going to make it in advance? When my Friend got there he was frustrated he had to wait for the food. The girl behind the counter was so rude I was on the phone with my friend and I could hear her. I told her to tell her to get the money back. Then she refused to give him his money back. I'm so upset because of this. I will not become back her and I recommend nobody does either. The sultan is just over on Hartzal food is 1000% better. Also there a new spot not even 3 mins away beside Burger King.

Bathrooms were out of order due to unavoidable circumstances (Understandable) . We requested if they had Hand sanitizers since we couldnt wash our Hands they didnt have any and staff almost seemed shock that we are asking for it.
One of our orders had shawarma poutine you have to pay $0.75 per additional topping if you want Veggies, miscommunication between staff and poutine was made without the veggies add on ... which was later corrected by staff and he put the veggies on top of poutine as an after thought so we requested that they put the garlic sauce on top of the veggies because they will be dry without the dressing one of the staff (seemed like the owner) was not impressed and stated that there already is sauce at the bottom ... the Other staff was sensible enough to understand why we asked for sauce on top and she continued putting the garlic sauce.
